All that narrative about abuse and trauma, just to end up with a romanticized relationship between and abuser and his victim (because yes, what Tj did is abuse)

I think that the autor didn't think of the end of the "case", and just left it like that... I mean... the story began totally different.
It is supposed to get based off a series of books. So changes may have been made due to length.
