I read the dog scene..
For the legal backlash in Korea - I’ve only heard people talk about that (I don’t live in Asia so I don’t know how true it is).
For the dog getting changed to a dildo (or “robotic arm” - basically an automated dildo machine used a lot in irl BDSM) that actually did happen because people freaked out about it. I couldn’t find any links on it, but I’ve read both versions of that scene on lilyofthevalley when that was still up. I think it was the dog at first, that instant freak out happened, then the author changed it before it could seriously impact them. There’s not a whole lot you can find on it just based on the subject matter it is and how small the novel’s reading group would have been compared to other bigger named stories/comics/franchise groups online
Glad to see people are still just spreading hearsay about the dog stuff . If you’re going to make bold statements then you should at least preface it by saying that they’re only rumors and unconfirmed. Bestiality in Korean novels is absolutely a thing. But manhwa sites have slightly stricter regulations. I don’t know anymore than anybody else here but my THEORY is that it was changed specifically for the manhwa release. Assuming this is true, I am not sure if it’s because the extra chapters will be adapted and the artist was like “hell no I’m not drawing dog dick” or because the story’s pivot into the mainstream meant that the author didn’t want to alienate manhwa readers with zoophilia. But the bestiality chapters were allegedly alive and well until right around the manhwa announcement. I remember using the official site back in 2024 and seeing that the dog chapters were unavailable. But they at least existed long enough for someone to grab the original chapters to translate them on cherrymist dot cafe.
Well other than rape being normalised in lot of genres (ive read straight manhwas and gls ones as well and found that rape is just...there) but ig for this story w/o the rape then the story just wont exist or make sense? Bcs it all started since one of the charac raped the other, the story is meant to be dark, twisted and disgusting and there's alot of people who read stuff like these and if not, more darker and twisted as a coping mechanism so maybe thats why
Damn ok I was jst answering ur questioning and yea I get what you mean. I do think the author has a recurring pattern of writing rape in a way that come across as uncomfortable or even like it's being justified, so I understand why people criticize their works and r weirded out. At the same time tho in reverse thinking, the rape is also the event that the entire story is built around. If you remove it, the story basically wouldn't exist in the same way is what i was saying, so I think it's fair to criticize how the author writes those scenes, but it's also true that the assault is the catalyst for the plot, those two things can both be true. Im not justifying the work nor rape here btw
Yeah, you're right. I'm still new to the BL community, so I guess I'll get more used to these kinds of stories over time. I really like the artwork, the character designs, and the overall aesthetic. I know no one is going to agree with every aspect of a work. I'm sorry if I came across as rude to you. If anything I said made you uncomfortable, please let me know. I didn't mean to be disrespectful
NONOIT'S OKAYY you weren't disrespectful haha i was just caught of guard bcs i genuinely thought u were asking ( ´ ▽ ` *) but yea it's okay to be uncomfortable with stories like these since it is meant to be like that, it's not everyone's cup of tea! And same here im still reading the story bcs art is genuinely pretty and nice, plus im interested to see how the story will carry on hehe

This is getting too relatable for me
