Most of the comments begging for the new chapter are good-natured but some of them come off kinda weird and entitled. Yoshikisleftnut is primarily a solo translator. It’s very rare for manhwa chapters to get an unofficial tl as polished and high quality as theirs within a day or two of uploading. If you really feel so strongly about being forced to wait an extra day or two, you can either 1. Buy the chapter yourself. Or 2. Send Yoshikisleftnut a couple dollars so they can buy the chapters and translate them faster. Their work is unpaid so it’s not realistic to expect them to be able to spend all their time and money buying the chapters and translating them. They need to take care of their needs too. Anyways, shoutout to Yoshikisleftnut. Thanks for the hard work.

these people have gotten way too spoiled. i have no clue what gives them the audacity. and on top of that, you see people bashing yoshikisleftnut for the most shit ever, and i can't help but wonder why they don't just buy and translate the chapters themselves if they dislike the current translator's work so much.

My piping hot take is that people who actually want to analyze the characters should talk about the cursed (and now deleted) Dog Extras. Obviously people are not gonna feel comfortable with bestiality, but if you’re gonna dive into the weeds of Jw and Jy’s morality, then you need to acknowledge the authorial intent behind the character writing. And part of that intent involved using animal rape to show their depravity. “But that’s just the author’s kink and should just be ignored since it’s not canon anymore” i disagree with this take because for 1, this whole story is like a summation of the author’s kinks. Such as the top who was smaller and more submissive as a child growing up to be big and mean. Such as describing the state of the rape victim’s anus in excruciating detail. YES, the story is psychological and has bits and pieces that can be compelling, but that doesn’t free it from its kink work status. It’s less of a psychological story with kink elements and more kink story with psychological elements. And 2. The author retconned the story shortly before the manhwa release. Revenge was published in 2021. Meaning homegirl had 3 years to sit and stew with the animal rape chapters in their story, but only retconned them when the story was actually about to be mainstream. That’s not a sign of them changing their mind on the depraved characterization of Jw and Jy imo. That’s just cleaning the story up for the fujos who r like “I can excuse rape but I draw the line at animal abuse”. The Bad Life manhwa did the same thing. Ofc the bestiality chapters are gross and distressing, but they’re also a stark rebuttal to people who try to assign moral superiority to the characters. They both chose to abuse that animal.

i would be flabbergasted to know anyone trying to compare any sort of judgement between ANYTHING in this series. but man even so without knowing this information, it still is hard to stomach what's happening in front of you. can you even blame the manhwa only readers

The way something can be the authors kink and still have an intent in the work is something most people cannot comprehend, because it sounds contradicting when it is not.
But what made me more surprised is the aversion to poop lol. Like you can watch SEVERAL chapters of rape and gang rape, but you draw the line at poop appearing???? It is so absurd it is a bit funny.
In a way I understand why most people have a higher aversion to bestiality, cause it is also why people would have a bigger aversion to seeing a kid in place of jiwook. Both are rape, but seeing an adult being the victim of it is different from seeing an animal or child. Because our mind knows that an animal or child can defend themselves even less. It plays on degress of cruelty, this is also why people get less bothered fo see mass murder than rape.
I honestly do not mind ANY topic being used in a work, but I dont think this work has maturity enough to treat bestiality so I think it would be kinda wasted in the sexual atmosphere that exist in this work, rather than a psychological terror atmosphere. At least it was my feeling in the novel and how it was written, it leans too much on the kinky side for it to have a terror feeling predominantly. This happens a lot when you consume horror movies. The line between horror and fetish is so thin when """"sexual"""" acts are present and lots of times you can see when one work leans more on the other side.

Revenge isn’t very typical “sexy” but yaoi physics and logic still apply. Like how the fuck is Jiwook not dead already from living in a miasma of his own fumes? And yes, people are understandably far more averse to seeing animal or child rape in comparison to the rape of an adult man (who the story gives you a reason to hate). I suppose there is a level of contradiction there, a lot of readers in Korea are super gung ho about reading standard yaoi rape between two adults nut balk at anything else. There was a very unique situation when Revenge first came out where people were upset because Jiwook used derogatory language towards women and spread revenge porn, but hardly talked about what happened to Juyeon. Mind you, these were people who were otherwise fine with the sexualized rape. I think I understand it because women in Korea have every reason to be tired of seeing abuse of women in fiction. It’s still interesting to talk about though.
Haha yeah, it’s pretty insane stuff. I don’t like the chapters on account of me not liking animal rape (shocker) and so I completely empathize with people who want to ignore that they ever existed at all. I just think they show you where the author, and by extension the characters heads are at.
Wait there was a chapter containing beastiality? And the story had very extensive description about the child's?? Perhaps I didnt know about it. I read the translated EPUB version so perhaps its a later revision. But like how did animal abuse in this story played out? Like who and what? The version I read did indeed have pretty indepth description of abuse but it also equally delved into about Juyeon's state of mind so I came to conclusion that its a psychological horror story with M/M elements and having scenes like this seems to be pretty much running theme in most novels geared towards this niche to the point its shocking how normalized it is. The stories romanticizing miscommunication, power trip and abuse in relations, non cons and stuff like that is disturbing and even if the story itself uses those elements correctly, the beautification of scenes by making the characters look attractive or making the setting feel erotic and sensual is starting to warp the sense of reality and is dangerous
I think Korean society as a whole frowns upon anything related to queer but they sure as hell love the queer aesthetics. If anything they are using the hallyu wave and sexiness to sell the idea that South Korea is desirable, trendy and cool. Its a common practice to use sexuality as a tool for commerical purpose. Its not just in traditional settings. Social media algorithms actively reward such thing (cough..cough instagram). Have you noticed why fitness influencers bare their skins and pose in a suggestive way to capture their workouts and men grooming and lifestyle influencers always follow a pattern of them flexing muscles and showcasing their bodies? They are selling their sexuality as a means to gain interactions and the algorithm rewards it! I mean people would stop scrolling when they see a hot person showing themselves off and they'll post comments telling how hot they are. Engagement drives popularity
Its not just sexualization of their people, they also infantilize their people (especially those record labels and talent mgmt companies) to market their people and before you know it, people are cheering and adoring on a guy with a baby face who's actually into his 30s. I can read several chapters of rape, but i draw the line at normal body functions is how most audiences sound. It is like they pretend they want the raw reality, but they actually want the sanitized version of it.

About jiwook misogynistic derogatory term use, I think your take is pretty nuanced and yeah, it is pretty much that. So complicated that we can see both sides of women being so thrown off about him saying misogynistic stuff, but at the same time being okay consuming sexualized rape... like... idk did they expect a man that does that to not be misogynistic when he did that to women too? Yes, there used to be a chapter with bestiality, and no, Juyeon’s abuse was not depicted in explicit detail. There is no explicit child sexual abuse in the story. And I think most people who are into dark shit sexually aren’t going all in on the grossness. They’re more into the power play related to a loss of control and the absence of consent. Unless you’re on some demon shit like Gengoroh Tagame, most “problematic” artists won’t bother showing extreme bodily trauma, bodily fluids, hair, etc. I don’t think fiction like this is inherently dangerous, but it’s definitely worth analyzing Why these stories are produced as they are. For example, I think a lot of messed up BL coming out of Asian countries exists as a way to see very clean-cut and indulgently problematic sex in a way that omits women entirely. Part of it is definitely misogyny, but like I said before, many women in Korea in the manhwa space are sick and tired of seeing violence being inflicted on girls and women in their “fictional safe spaces”. Writing yaoi like this allows them to explore the dynamics of abuse and coercion without having to see it happen to women. I get it, though. Because like I said: most Asian countries are hellish for women. Even in creative fiction spaces men are constantly showing them how much they hate women.
