Juyeon's complex feelings toward Jiwook are, in my opinion, a very good example of how complicated the rapist-survivor dynamic is. Many people look at their relationship one-dimensionally and don’t understand that, first of all, rape isn’t only committed by strangers, which makes things confusing and complicated for the survivor. You can feel hate and resentment toward your rapist but still have affection or at least a desire for their attention and approval. It feels confusing and disgusting, and Juyeon is not hiding these conflicting emotions, which is why he keeps abusing Jiwook. No rapist-survivor dynamic is a simple incident leading to a clean separation and hatred. In many ways, juyeons residual but very much real desire for jiwook— or his affection— is there.
