This manhwa is so beautiful in just so many ways. Not only the art, which is incredible on its own, but the story and their relationship as family. I just reached chapter 51, and the scene where they sleep together on the same bed is so meaningful.
I don't dislike the mother, I actually really like her character, but it's undeniable that she made some poor life choices before and committed various errors, mostly with Rica. But she not only deeply regrets it, but she is now trying to change things for the better, because she loves her daughter that much. Not everyone is fit for parenting, and there are people who find showing love, or just being a good parent, very difficult. What fills me with joy is how Lydia recognised her wrongdoings and decided to do everything in her power to change that and give her daughter the life she deserves.
The crown prince is also a nice character. He feels deeply betrayed by everyone around him, only to find solace in a little girl that is just so honest and innocent that her sweet words cured his broken heart. Besides, their relationship is just so cute and fluffy
I am enjoying the story quite a lot up until now (chapter 51), and to everyone who hates the mother: I understand, but you should try to see that she is also human. I think that one of the messages of the story is about how humans, even with their mountain of defects and imperfections, manage to change and overcome bad things. The mother is just a young woman who lost everything, and felt so lost herself that she couldn't even see the only thing that she had left — her daughter. Sometimes people only learn to cherish things once they have already lost them. If you were to have another chance at life, wouldn't you try to be better as well?

Ludia was married to the worst kind of trash, he treated her horribly and then abandoned her and Lyrica with a mountain of debt and no home, pretending like he would come back. He hated Ludia for some reason. This leads to her raising Lyrica by herself on the streets, eventually discovering alcohol and becoming an alcoholic, her family having moved away, finding out her husband was really living elsewhere with a new family, marrying Lyrica off to an old man to make her a countess, and then the rest is history. Because of her husband she no longer believed in love. She ended up working for the Barats in that life, which ended in disaster as they severely underestimated the emperor's power.
She was branded a traitor and Lyrica hid her, but then Lyrica was arrested and was going to be hanged. She went to the hanging terrified that Lyrica would sell her out to save herself and their eyes met, Ludia was panicking that she'd give her away, but Lyrica just smiled at her and then Ludia gave herself up to save Lyrica. Lyrica's power then turned back time as Ludia desperately wished she could do things over and show Lyrica the love she deserved.
So it's like, she was so traumatized that it took Lyrica willingly almost (or possibly actually, kinda hard to tell) dying for her to believe someone else loves her and now that's a core thing for her. It's her and Lyrica.
People don't realize, she's had no time to heal whatsoever. Only now with the emperor is she getting a break.
