In a lot of yaoi that has an abusive and obsessive seme, they make it seem like all these guys needed was the power of “love” to get over being abusive pieces of shit. Like sure he did an insane amount of crazy and abusive things, even physically hurt the Joe, but the guy had a hard life and sure he’s a psychopath but only for special Joe when special uke pleads or fights back does psychopath uke back down or make space etc etc. in reality this behaviour is horrific and scary and the use would 100% be dead or maimed. And that’s kind of what s1 showed right? It was like a horror manga, there was no romanticisation of what was going on, there was no, “oh the psycho is just a little traumatised by his past, he just needs special uke to calm down, and oh seem is still psychotic towards everyone else but special uke” it was just horrific and it seemed to end in the uke actually being, as is what would happen. I think that was the more interesting story.

Him leaning into the kiss is messed up but the only way to stop her from kissing him is literally to physically pry her face off of him. What did you guys want, him to shove her face off of his or just let her one sidedly keep kissing him, like sit there and take it, or just keep shoving her off???????? This is some legendary manhwa right here. Came from currently reading Hate Girl by the same author (I’m so excited hehehe) that seems to be in the same vein of unrequited young love. Love the way this author explores characters and their emotions in depth
ALSO GUYS, WE DONT KNOW WHAT WE DONT KNOW, we don’t know if that kiss was legit or something comedic was going or if it is some illicit weird stuff, based on the author’s other works it could go either way. The title seems to be a play on the title of Hate Mate which is another work by the author. It was also hilarious, devastating, beautiful, and dealt specifically with young unrequited love. I’ve also read most of the other stuff the author has written and the author writes beautiful nuanced stories, they are not typical and their comedic timing is impeccable, let’s see where this goes!!!!
