I felt so bad for FL imagine breaking your walls and letting someone in. Putting all the negatives you’ve grown up seeing and hearing from your parents finally putting caution and fear to the side and finally telling that man how you sincerely feel about him only for him to prove all your fears and nightmares true.
As a reader I also believe the ML. I totally believed he was sincere with feeling. Only to cringe at his response. God! I can’t imagine the embarrassment, pain and self loathing she must have felt.

Chapter 62. Damn I find the FL selfish. At least she knows everything even the fact that the baby was ML. But ML didn’t know he was having a relationship with his enemy, had a non consensual sexual relationship and fell in love with his enemy. Only for that woman to turn out to be the same woman he just left for dead in jail. He lost his child without knowing anything. He cannot sympathize with a woman who poisoned him and conspired with his brother to kill him.
I wonder how much more pain he will have to endure when finds out everything. Even to the every end FL kept her mouth shut only speak for her parents who r selfish also. They didn’t even see the sacrifice their daughter made, they were okay with an innocent man who saved their daughter’s life to be killed!
The FL is in pain but at least she know the whole truth. She’s able to moan the loss of her love and child. She is able to make selfish decisions without giving the ML an opportunity to make a choice. She could have chosen to leave him to suffer after poisoning him but nope she went there became close to him. He completely fell for her even had dreams of the future with their child, only for her to ran. Then she turns her self in, kept her mouth shut.
He lost his child while saying all that bad things to the woman he loved and the child he hoped to have. All while going back to the addiction he worked so hard for a years to get rid off.
This so fcked up!

i upvoted because I tried to understand where you’re coming from and we are all entitled to our own opinions, it is a work of fiction after all … that being said, i think your comment lacks a bit of empathy and that might be the issue some people had
you can’t say she is selfish when everything she has done is out of selflessness. is it a bit shortsighted? yeah, but she is 19-20yo, and even so she is extremely self aware at times, and she hopes that he won’t ever find out the truth and that, with time, he’ll move on from “rose,” which any normal person would … and she didn’t expect him to rely again on opioids and alcohol, and she doesn’t even know that part yet
and the fact that she decided to go help him while he was blind is just the plot. without it, it would’ve been another story. i do find the fact that they found her so fast kind of disappointing but, again, it would’ve been a different story otherwise
i think it is valid to say how fucked up it is because we all can assume that he will learn the truth in the next chapters, but I can also see why people would downvote your comment; not because their frontal lobe is not developed (what a mean thing to say!), but maybe because you make statements about a character as if the character is the one writing the story?
personally, and I think (hope) you will agree, the story is great so far, the characters are well written to some extent, and with the choices the writer has made, their actions and reactions make sene. but even if you disagree, it is fine. after all, we all read with our own personal experiences and preconceptions, that’s the great thing about literature. i only wanted to point out why some people might downvote your comment ^^

The reason why I called FL selfish is because all her choices was for her own conscience. She help him out of guilt she felt for harming someone who saved her life and others life. I called her selfish not cause I don’t acknowledge her suffering but because she could have come clean and let that man make a choice at least when she found out she was miscarriages.
Majority of the readers r women so I understand they would sympathize with the character they resonate with. Hence y they called ML all kind of names even though he is a victim.
U give the reason y FL did what she did but that same understanding doesn’t apply to the ML in the comments.
A 19/20 years old could be sentence to life in prison for attempt murder. That doesn’t excuse the harm she did and continued to do by staying silent.
It’s not mean to say “their frontal lobe hasn’t developed” it’s facts lol. Frontal lobe develops in your late 20s and early 30s.

regarding the ML, I said the actions and reactions of the characters make sense, that included him, i think he acted exactly as he should given the circumstances; i talked about the FL because that’s who you talked about in relation to others and I didn’t reference any comments about the ML, i only spoke for myself and gave an opinion on why people might disagree. I don’t think this is a story where you have to root for one or the other or for anyone, but the truth is they are both victims, and she thinks she is keeping the truth from him for his own good

So he finds out but finds out a bit too late(arguably). Her execution is decided on the new year day and he finds out her true identity as rose a day before.
He is in a far town while he discovers the truth so rushes to the execution ground. He basically ride the horse no stop -blood, sweat and tears- to take the 2 days distance in a day. He makes it in the last second. (They hang her and he shoots the rope from distance)
In his mind while traveling that distance, the resentment just melts away and only the thought of fear of losing her and how precious she is to him remains.
Sooo what happens next?
The dumb mc is saved and forgiven and treated like a treasure by ml. She cannot talk and she doesn’t want to. She just lose all of her willpower to live and just want to abandon everything.
After a looooooooong time of ml tries to cheer her up and she acts like she doesn’t care anything anymore and she is like a just a hallow shell of what she was before,, she decides to go back to school. She wants to leave everything and go back to north, herschool.
ML just agrees since he doesn’t have anything to do for her anymore and she rejects everything. But he follows her through her journey and protects her from afar. He leaves the military and just hangs around the place.
Things happen and she gets kidnapped by the brother of ML. ML saves her and deals with 13+ men alone and being shot multiple times and a blade on his abdomen. The moment he is brink of death our dumb MC realizes how much she likes him and promise to marry him.
He survives and while he is healing, she waits him in the western part of the empire, the house he built for her.
He returns to the military, returns to her after a year, happy ending.
Except i hate itttt!! She just hate everything and suddenly everything is okay??? I get that being hung is traumatizing and you have ptsd. But whyyyy drag everything for so long and just be okay with everything at the end. I was pissed off. The amount of depression and ptsd she showed for NOTHING. Her ptsd was gone in 5 mins when she realized he was dying. But not when he was suffering his second withdrawal symptoms he had because of her, he did not leave her side for months, takecare of her, forgive her without even mentioning anything and even without asking why. She was soooooo selfish in my opinion. Ml deserved better.

Chapter 10 and I feel so sorry for the ML. I can’t imagine a teenage boy being sent to war, witness all that horror. Fight and win for his ppl. Only to be thrown poison at that doesn’t just blind u it cause u excruciating pain. U r neither dead nor alive just in pain. Then go through a treatment that would require you to be clean. Alcohol withdrawal itself can kill a human being without medical supervision. Then I opened the comments only to see ppl calling him stupid saying “I wish he would die.”
If the roles were reversed would the comments be saying the same thing about the FL who wants to her revenge for all the pain the ML put him through. Will they say the same thing “I wish she would die” “she is so stupid”
