Am I stupid, or I thought she met his brother before?
You knew what kind of person the Dr was and want to avenge him, you know the hounds have no emotion or care for the other civilians, the Dr warned you about this guy, and you still are a dumbass and thought "maybe he's a good guy after all." Also, why tf would he carry the Dr's ring around with him? To ReMemBeR wHaT hE nEeDs To Do, what an actual dumbass. My god everyone in this story is an idiot. Can they just all kill each other and get it over with, like it's no surprise we can't trust the other hounds, so why bother trying to manipulate us into trusting them. Anyone with a brain would know they can't be trusted. At this point, I only like the ML, and that shouldn't be a good thing because he also isn't a good person
If the curse or whatever gets broken, is Mugo gonna die or something? Idk how most curses work, but if he's been alive much longer than a regular human, will he revert to what he "should" be like, meaning long gone
Every character is insufferable in this story, jesus
Can someone spoil what's about to happen and if it's a decent ending, I'm anxious
My biggest issue with the ending is not that the main couple ended up together, it's that the story never convincingly earns that outcome.
The central conflict wasn't a misunderstanding, a rivalry, or a simple case of two people struggling to communicate. The relationship was built on a severe imbalance of power. The MC's financial desperation left him vulnerable, while the what's-his-face possessed the money, status, and control necessary to dictate the terms of their relationship. Because the story establishes this dynamic from the beginning, any eventual reconciliation requires a level of accountability proportional to the harm that was done.
Instead, the ending seems to treat billy baddass's feelings as evidence of redemption. The story spends a great deal of time proving that he loves the MC, but far less time proving that he understands the damage he caused. Love, by itself, is not accountability. A character can genuinely love someone and still have harmed them in ways that require serious reflection, acknowledgment, and change.
The ML experiences suffering throughout the story, but suffering is not the same thing as taking responsibility. Consequences that happen to a character are different from consequences they actively confront. What feels missing is a genuine reckoning with his behavior and a clear acknowledgment of how his actions affected the main character. The story asks readers to accept that he has changed, but it rarely shows him fully grappling with the reality of what he did.
Another issue is that the narrative often treats the mc's continued love as proof that reconciliation is deserved. However, love and forgiveness are not the same thing. People can continue to love someone who has hurt them while still recognizing that the relationship is unhealthy, unsafe, or beyond repair. The story never meaningfully explores that distinction, which makes the resolution feel less emotionally convincing.
I also think the reception of this character would be very different if he were not conventionally attractive. Many people are willing to extend sympathy and forgiveness to characters they find appealing in ways they would not for less attractive characters. As a result, the story sometimes feels as though it relies on the ML's "attractiveness" to soften actions that would otherwise be viewed much more badly.
A tragic backstory can explain harmful behavior, but explanation is not the same thing as justification. Understanding why someone became the person they are does not erase the consequences of their actions. The ending seems to blur that distinction, presenting the ML's emotional vulnerability as evidence that he deserves forgiveness rather than treating forgiveness as something that must be earned.
For me, a stronger ending would not necessarily require punishment, but it would require accountability. The ML needed to acknowledge the ways he exploited a vulnerable person, show positive change over time, respect the MC's autonomy, and accept the possibility that forgiveness might never come. Instead, the story appears to treat romantic love as a substitute for redemption.
That's why the ending feels disappointing to me. Not because redemption is impossible, but because the story asks us to believe in it without fully showing the difficult work required to achieve it.
What kind of horseshit did I just see. They got their happy ending, why are they suddenly not a couple or some shit. I guess the author couldn't start from scratch on a new story and had to write some bullshit
Okay I believe I saw someone say that the author confirmed they will NOT end up together, but I think she has fanart of them being a couple, so they just might not be canon in the comic? Also one of them is gonna die, I forget which tho. This might not all be 100% true... ┗( T﹏T )┛
I think a lot of people are missing the point when they defend this relationship, so I’m just going to say it plainly: something can be framed as “romantic” in a story and still reflect unhealthy or non-consensual behavior.
The issue that me and many others are trying to speak about isn’t just THAT one isolated scene, it’s a pattern. You have a female lead who was abused her entire life, has little understanding of relationships, and has been conditioned to obey and endure. That kind of background heavily impacts how someone responds to intimacy, conflict, and obvious power dynamics.
When you put that kind of character in situations where she’s clearly uncomfortable, unsure, or saying “wait” or “stop,” and those boundaries are ignored, that’s where people start calling it what it is. Even readers who like the story acknowledge that there are scenes where consent is questionable or outright absent (look it up).
And that’s really the core issue:
Consent isn’t based on whether someone eventually “goes along with it,” feels conflicted, or even develops feelings later. Consent requires clear, ongoing willingness, and it can be withdrawn at any time.
I also think it’s important to recognize that this story reflects dynamics that exist in real life. People in abusive or imbalanced relationships don’t always react in obvious ways. They might comply, rationalize, or even blame themselves. Many, many women defend their abuser and their rapist, and many do things for their abuser/rapist that people might question "why did she do that for him if he did that to her?" That doesn’t make the situation healthy.... it actually shows how much manipulation and conditioning can affect someone.
You can still enjoy the story, analyze the characters, or even like the development, but denying or minimizing those dynamics entirely is where the problem starts. When we call their relationship toxic, we are not hating the series, we are trying to be honest about what's being portrayed.
I'm not going to be surprised if people leave replies that make it obvious they didn't fully read what I wrote, but at this point, it's concerning how some of you can't have a proper, mature discussion and understand your "opponents" viewpoints. It's literally not about opinions at this point. There are fundamental principles, like consent and bodily autonomy, that aren’t subjective. Ignoring a partner’s refusal or distress isn’t “debatable,” it’s a violation, and treating it otherwise only contributes to harmful misunderstandings. <3
Btw, for anyone who tries to defend Riftan as a green or maybe yellow flag, he literally rapes Maxi later on for like a week straight and never apologies for it.
I lowkey forgot wtf happened lmaooo, why are they not on good terms again? (I truthfully don't wanna reread the entire thing rn)
Can someone plz tell me how long we gotta wait until Riftan finds out about the abuse? And what happens after that, does the dad finally get karma?
It's very clear which authors have a rape kink. This story had so much potential, but I guess the author thought adding a rape scene(s) was a good dramatic cliffhanger. They even had to sneak in one last rape scene in the side story. It's clear it's not even to spread awareness or anything; it's just straight up romanticizing rape -_-
I lowkey forgot, is that lead cop at the end good or bad? (As in, do we need to worry he's going to catch them or not, is he on the MC and ML's side, etc)
Thank fuck it was a dream because that would've been absolute bullshit, he needs to give him hell. I hope he doesn't forgive him so easily just because he's been manipulated into thinking he's in love with him. Classic stockholm syndrome disguised as "love." I keep checking back here in the hopes the ML will get some sort of karma, and not something that just lasts one chapter lmao
So I think the first chapter is gonna happen soon, but I'm only judging by the clothing he's wearing. They're similar, so I'm afraid something bad is going to happen to him. As terrible as it sounds, I hope he's just beat up and not SAed, but the first chapter doesn't show him with shoes on, so I have my doubts...
