no, yeah definitely. i remember seeing ppl raise this point too but everyone else was like "well you cannot expect her to be on 'work mode' even in the next life" and like ??? this is literally characterization 101. if you introduce a character as *this* in the past life, that should be the driving force of the character

it's not as if she's not smart. it just feels like her plans are not quite /it/. it feels weak, especially in the later chapters.

I think y'all are too damn autistic to be flexible. Cause so the fuck what if she isn't "acting accordingly to her past character sheet" there is nuance in every person and not everything is just black or white there is GRAY as well as every other color in the damn rainbow when it comes to people and how they DECIDE they want to act as well as the CIRCUMSTANCES and ENVIRONMENT that can influence the way someone could and would act differently.

Yeah, some people can be unreasonable in comment sections, but when others expect a character detail an author wrote to factor in the story--that's not complaining. It's Chekov's freaking Gun. I agree with OP, you could literally replace FL's backstory with anything else and nothing would've changed. Hell, I also forgot she was supposed to be a lawyer.

In my past life I was an extrovert with a bad attitude and in this life I'm an introvert who likes plants and likes studying stars for fun. Do you see how stupid it sounds to even think you have a say in what I am when you wouldn't have known in the first place if I didn't tell you to begin with? Same thing with the author, if they didn't tell you she was lawyer in the first place IT WOULDN'T HAVE EVEN MATTERED because she is who she is NOW. Think of it as a little fun fact to know instead of a friggin certainty. Like for example my favorite color when I was a kid was purple but now it's amber, does it matter that my favorite color was purple? Idk it's not real life, it's a made up story and I personally don't see the point of setting the character up to have a certain background if they're not going to make use of that background. Also using "autistic" as an insult is not cool

THANK YOU. It’s NOT real life where a person can ignore stuff like that and do something completely different on a whim. This is a story that an author has to go out of their way to mention certain things. If it didn’t matter then why wrote it at all? The readers shouldn’t be mocked for expecting something out of that.

OP was a reasonable observation but some people are too emotionally fragile to handle a comment about something they like.

And I agree that such people exist and kill the discourse. I have seen people rant about the most nothing-burger things before.

What got me to start commenting on this site at all was a little game to see how much of a crash out I could cause over the most innocuous statement. It was fun, but I started slipping and intentionally posting rage bait which was cheating so I stopped.

exactly. it is fair to rebut and say 'hey i don't agree with your point and (insert explaination and elaboration on why i think this way)' which would've made a FAIR and civil discussion regarding this. but not only are some people unable to stop themselves from devolving to insults, but the blatant ableism in the first line was so weird. like 'y'all are too damn autistic to be flexible', first of all, the insinuation that autistic people are too rigid and incorrigible to understand character nuance and development is such a weird hasty generalisation and assumption to make, especially when autism is a spectrum. it's also such an unnecessary and outrightly i sulting remark to make?? no where in the thread was autistic/neurodivergent people brought up or implied at. it was simply a discussion talking about the incongruity between the fl's current behaviour and her traits which were emphasised at when discussing her character as a reincarnated person. bringing up autistic people out of nowhere and in such an insulting remark is honestly so gross and disgusting, and honestly speaks alot about them as a person, combined with the fact they seem to liken themselves in an holier-than-thou way while insulting everyone involved when mind you, the discussion had been civil and peaceful beforehand.
