WARNING: It’s best to read the story first before this as it contains the whole story here. This is just my thoughts and spoilers of it all, interpretations if you will. I’m tired as I finished writing this, so I might have contradicted or misinterpreted, so read this beautiful story first. I typed this while reading, and why I wrote the whole thing? Because I wanted to use up the short time I had doing something I felt was meaningful for my brain that wants to remember this, about every detail, in words. I’m neurodivergent as fuck, some things can’t be explained, or it’s unsatisfactory of an answer.
The concept of sex fight ring is a bit funny, ridiculous, and kind of bitter.
As I am typing I finished chapter 3, it’s cute how Ryuga unconsciously felt bitter about being used in the official sex ring, feeling bitter that Oni might put him there again. Because he wants to belong with Oni.
Since being part of the official sex ring is considered ‘filth’, hence label ‘filthy pawn’, Ryuga thinks if Oni continues to use him there, he is what the label is. And to be fair, there is a lot of exploitation going on, so it isn’t great regardless if Ryuga has a thing for Oni or not.
This is a good read. I enjoyed the sex and different angles of it, putting the discussion of consent aside, so far my favorite sex is the one in shower (ch 3 I believe). Their dynamic is funny and interests me, it’s like the two bromance guy trope where the bros are more interesting than the guy and his main love interest, if that made any sense?
On top of that, they both look quite good, enjoyed the variety of expressions and lack of dorito chin characters. Currently on CH 4, and it’s heartbreaking how Ryuga was called a ‘disgusting creature’ by that old man. More than being humiliated in front of the guy he likes (Oni), it sucks more to be dehumanized. My heart dropped when Oni realized Ryuga had feelings for him, even more so when he caught Ryuga kissing him.
I hope Onizuka regret, I can see it coming. The part where he let Ryuga know his plan to use Ryuga for his main goal, was distressing. Then comes the next panels…where Ryuga was competing with another guy, and finally lost, distracted by the one person who meant something, the same guy who threw him in there (agreed upon, of course).
WOW, Oni offers him water, a bit cruel after what he said lol. Ryuga is so used to defiling himself and degrading, that he was surprised he actually didn’t want Oni to see him like that (in the official sex). He was trying to tell himself it’s fine if Oni sees him like a ‘filthy pawn’, but he doesn’t want that. Honestly Oni deserved his balls to be kicked at, WAY TO GO, RYUGA!
Oh, Katagiri needs to die (black haired, glasses). He picked up Ryuga a decade ago, and possibly groomed into the official sex ring since then. He contributed to Ryuga dehumanizing himself. Oh yes, he absolutely groomed him, he admits to it. Making Ryuga the happiest he could be, and leaving him emotionally is sickening. Then making Ryuga remember it all, telling him the cruelty of his plans right to his face…what the hell. Then Katagiri rapes Ryuga at the end of volume 1.
Moving forward to Volume 2. We see Onizuka’s childhood a bit, it seems he lost someone he treasured, someone named Yuzuki. The nightmare ends and we see he had slept with a woman. Apparently he uses his body to get information from those with higher power, hence why he slept with the woman. He and Ryuga talk on phone, and I really like their communication. Instead of dragging it out, Ryuga tells him straight up that he doesn’t want to see him, and he should know why.

:( My poor boy. Oni wondered if the four eyed said something (Katagiri), but then he realized he couldn’t ask since he would seem like a hypocrite, considering he wanted to use Ryuga for his goal. More info on Yuzuki, Oni’s childhood friend, Yuzuki was the son of President Torao. Some higher ups in the official sex ring were involved in the cause of Torao family’s death. Onizuka says he plans to use the ‘filthy money’ from the ‘Secretaries association’ (official sex), and make the rotten secretaries crawl. He wants to take down every company that played a role in the Torao fall down. Ryuga overheard it all, the goal.
Onizuka tried to explain about what he said (using Ryuga), but the latter shot it down and told Oni to use his tool wisely (referring to himself the ‘tool’). Oni is regretful and I’m eating it up!!! Oni is thinking how Ryuga is much more than that, and how it’s not supposed to be this way. Oni invited Ryuga to somewhere nice, admits to wanting to discuss things, CLEAR THE AIR.
Ryuga is offered a job position as a lead for product development by Onizuka.
Ryuga isn’t sure because ‘he isn’t the right person’ for it, he is clearly feeling insecure or not worthy, it’s not ‘filthy enough’ for a ‘filthy person’ like him. Onizuka compliments his performance, showing Ryuga how he has increased the standard. Ryuga has flashbacks to him being raped by Katagiri and Katagiri’s words about how dislike, like, praise, or criticism does not matter. Oh god, we can also see the other minion of Katagiri forcing Ryuga to give blowjob. Ryuga finally thinks about Oni’s words of praise, that he did well.
Onizuka apologises to Ryuga for backing him into a corner, that he doesn’t truly want to use Ryuga, that he didn’t want to have a weak point. Aw, something in common, both of them didn’t want to be swayed by affection.
One never really had anything and was groomed to let go of affection, and the other lost something, and taught himself to let go of affection. Both was and is survival. The two finish eating and wear yukatas, hanging outside and…they both suck at taking pictures.
Who the hell is cutting onions and releasing smoke? My eyes are in pain.
Ryuga said he hasn’t taken a single picture yet, to which Onizuka tells him to take it and asks why he hasn’t? Ryuga said “it’s too beautiful and bright for someone like me”. And seeing the shocked expression on Oni’s face was pleasing, it meant he understands Ryuga in a sense.
Ryuga had a flashback to the entire network of men Katagiri surrounded himself with, the world Ryuga is used to, their eyes on him. Oni's line, "if you feel like taking the shot, just take it," is with no expectation, no right or wrong way to do it. It’s just encouragement without a negative motive (if that made sense).
When Oni tells him to just take the shot if he feels like it, he told Ryuga he is allowed to have this, no presure, he doesn’t have to earn it or prove anything to deserve it. He doesn’t have to fill expectations(?). And that kind of ‘permission’ is foreign to him. In the ring, eyes on him were never neutral, he was literally priced or numerically valued based on how he performed under them, if he wasn't good enough, no one might take him.
Ryuga smiled, he laughed, and said the picture isn’t blurry (as in it’s a good picture, he didn’t ruin it, he made something beautiful and is capable of existing within that beautiful). Onizuka blushed in a loving sense for the first time towards Ryuga. Ryuga is shocked when the latter pulls him close for a kiss, his mind racing that it’s impossible to love someone unlovable like him. Just when Ryuga has hope the impossible is happening, dumb Oni pulls back and apologized, to which Ryuga probably misunderstood.
Onizuka asks why Ryuga is doing Official Sex? If that is something he truly wants to do? Ryuga’s mood downed a bit, says it doesn’t matter because he (Oni) will keep using people and nothing would change. He is in denial that he isn’t look for anything anymore, his heart wants something clearly but he tells himself he isn’t. Ryuga comes across a guy he slept with before, and the guy wants Ryuga to teach him how to get better.
Ryuga tells him to quit if he isn’t good at it. The guy replied that even if he isn’t cut out for it, he doesn’t want to quit because he actually loves Official Sex. Ryuga’s eyes widened, realizing that the two of them, despite standing in the same filthy ring, doing the same acts, were never the same. That guy chooses it, wants it, feels something real when he’s in it, even if he’s bad at it, even if he never rises in rank. This ties back to why Onizuka had asked.
Meanwhile Ryuga has been hollow this whole time, going through it, numbing himself just to get through it. He never loved it. He never let himself feel it. He built his entire survival around not feeling, and here’s someone who feels everything and wants to continue. Ryuga questioned what he’s actually been doing there all these years, if it was never about love or desire for the act itself, then what was it for? Was it ever a choice, or was it only something Katagiri carved into him until he couldn’t tell survival from ‘want’ anymore. He found the difference between someone who’s there because they want to be and someone who’s there because they were taught they had nowhere else to belong(!!!).
An imagination of Ryuga’s other side is crying while Ryuga lies on top of him, he tells himself that what he went through isn’t sex. That he can’t keep convincing himself this is okay. Ryuga realized his body had been rejecting it all along, official sex. He truly wanted to be loved, and have sex with love. Not loveless.
In the next chapter, Onizuka was worried because he didn’t know where Ryuga was wandering off to. Ryuga grabbed onto Oni’s yukata, and tried to explain himself why he grabbed onto Oni’s, but unable to. Onizuka spills out his worries. Ryuga admits he has feelings for him, and asks Oni how to let go? How to not feel again? That he will learn to let go, and he will be Oni’s pawn. Onizuka calls and buys out Ryuga from the Secretary association. Ryuga says he didn’t ask him for that, the two squabble a bit. Onizuka had noticed the bruises on Ryuga’s wrist, knowing the four eyes Katagiri had something to do with it. Ryuga says it’s not abnormal to be punished for losing as the #1, and tells Onizuka to mind his own business if he’s just feeling sorry for him.
Onizuka confessed his feelings for Ryuga. He admits his flaws and apologized, and how he never thought anyone could make him feel to this extent. Finally we see Ryuga crying, he says it’s impossible to be loved, all he’s known is the absence of love. The two then…um, make out, way to jump the sentimental mood.
But I love it. Onizuka keeps kissing him, he didn’t jump to penetration right away. He told Ryuga he will be punished if he keeps thinking lowly of himself. He teases Ryuga to beg for the kiss he wants. To verbalize his wants. And so Ryuga does, he says he wants a kiss. Oni keeps telling him to verbalize his wants, so Ryuga courageously tells to lick his dick. As I’m typing all this, I find myself relating with Ryuga—the poor communication, or anxious about verbalizing my wants. It feels embarrassing to tell someone what I want, don’t some of you? Especially those who grew up being restricted from expressing themselves. All you ever knew is to refrain from asking ‘too much’.
Onizuka tells him again, that he loves him. Oh my sweet pies!
Ryuga remembers his words towards Oni in the past, assuming that Oni just wanted to make a big fortune. He remembers hearing Oni’s plan, to run the executives of the Official Ring/Secretary association through mud. Ryuga realized he had been wrong, connecting two dots. Onizuka had a reason, he wasn’t in for money or part of the system that confined Ryuga. He embraced and kissed Ryuga, saying he loves him too. The next panel shows Onizuka caressing Ryuga who’s fallen asleep. Oni meets with Katagiri, the four eyed bastard, to ‘buy out’ his beloved from the filthy grasps.
He offered 500 million yen and extra billion yen, in exchange, Katagiri will never bother Ryuga again. Katagiri yaps about how he shouldn’t lead Ryuga astray with sympathy, or as if sym/empathy is bad to give.
“You just don’t want to lose a tool that satisfies your own greed, you villain.” OOH BURN THAT UGLY FOUR EYED QUACK FOR ME, ONIZUKA!
Onizuka mentioned how Ryuga had tried his best to smother his wants and feelings. Katagiri said his efforts in repairing ‘that broken thing’ must have worked, as if dissolving feelings is repairing oneself. And Onizuka threw IT against the wall, a flying punch. GET THAT QUACK!
Katagiri reminds Oni that he holds power. Onizuka ends up begging calmly, and I quote, "this is not a negotiation... that's why I'm begging you," saying he just wants Ryuga to have happiness as a human being. That probably sent Katagiri on pre-power trip moment, a wealthy president on his knees, sincerely pleading at his feet. But when Oni lifts his head up, he looks calm and collected. I could interpret more, but I’m sleepy. Katagiri’s "I see..." might be him registering that he didn't actually win the moment he thought he did.
"How dare he call me a villain!!!" Katagiri is pissed. Katagiri doesn't seem to see himself as the villain of his own story, or at least won’t admit just like Ryuga didn’t admit he was a victim at first. Whatever justification he's built for what he did to Ryuga, control, rape, "repairing" him, he seems to believe it's something other than villainy, maybe just order, maybe care on his own twisted terms. Being named a villain, by Onizuka, must hurt his narrative, serves him right.
"...my role...! As a villain... I'm seeing this through..." Rather than prove he isn't a villain, he chooses (?) to commit to the role, as if being called one settles something for him rather than hurts him more. It seems like a kind of surrender into given role/identity, if that's what he's going to be seen as, he'll stop pretending otherwise and just play the part all the way through(?).
The hand reaching into darkness with "Ryu..." right after. He's been asked to give Ryuga up, that was the deal, "you will have absolutely nothing to do with him from this point forward," and yet his hands, the unguarded reaction, is reaching for him still. "I'm not letting go of my No. 1" he said to himself, just a quack refusing to accept a loss.
“To the way a villain can still love another human being... let's bear witness, shall we?" It’s bitter, maybe mocking himself and mocking Ryuga’s relationship with Onizuka. He seems to test his own claim in real time, putting his obsession with Ryuga as a kind of love, while also seeming to doubt whether something built the way he built it, control, grooming, ownership, actually qualifies as love at all. "Let's bear witness" might mean he's not too convinced either. LIKE “Is this really love? Or is Onizuka just temporarily emotional?“.
Two days had gone by and Ryuga thinks Onizuka must be busy, wonders if everything loving that happened was a dream. He says he wants to see Oni again. Ryuga is at the official sex ring, just watching, not up there. Some old fart is being shitty and says: “to think he’d try to look at things from the same level as us, talk about not knowing your place.” —these things truly dehumanize. Ryuza tells him to shut his geezer ass up, and leaves.
Ryuga courageously called Onizuka, and the latter invited him for lunch, this made Ryuga very happy :), me too. Ryuga suggests eating over at his place I believe, and he offers to cook for them. Onizuka says he really loves it and it truly warms Ryuga’s heart, giving him solace and a beautiful smile that Onizuka witnessed. Oni says he will be leaving in a bit, and Ryuga is a bit disappointed. Oni asks if he will try to stop him?
“If I stop you, will you stay with me forever?” YES I WILL, COME TO ME.
Onizuka realised his drink was alcohol and says he came here driving, and Ryuga said it’s best if he can’t leave, that he wants Onizuka to just think of him no matter what. Remember the ring rule, that a "proof of love" has to be acknowledged and approved by VIP members? Onizuka's line is a rejection of that: "that 'proof of love' crap is nonsense."
He's throwing out the entire Association’s idea that it needs to be performed, and approved by others to count as real. "Even if I prove it, would people like them even understand?" follows naturally from that. the "Them" as the Association, Katagiri, the system itself. Onizuka's saying that even if he tried to prove his feelings for Ryuga by their standards, it wouldn't matter, because people who reduce love to leverage and ownership don't have the capacity to recognize the love when it's in front of them.
Their entire worldview would be ignorant on purpose, filter it through greed or hierarchy the way Katagiri did with his "repairing" comment. "This feeling of becoming a total, hopeless fool" is Onizuka being disarmed by his own emotions/accepting of it, he’s who spent a long time being controlled by himself, now finds himself completely undone by how much he loves Ryuga. It's not shame tbf, more disbelief, that he's the kind of man who can be reduced to this. It’s not negative.
“I'm gonna do things my own way" he’s not going to prove anything to Katagiri or "people like them,". He's choosing to love Ryuga. In the final chapter of volume 2, Ryuga is walking to the stage and wondering once official sex is done, what will happen between him and Oni?
The announcer says this is a stage never done before, and asks the audience to judge the love shown by No.1’s opponent to No.1. Ryuga is like what the hell are these quacks talking about? God my oh, the pig behind masks wondering how someone can love Ryuga is piss eroding my dick off. Ryuga glanced towards them, wondering why Onizuka isn’t there, part of the pig behind masks. Onizuka stormed inside and Ryuga is surprised that’s his opponent. Onizuka kissed him and glared, surprising Kitagiri.
Onizuka doesn’t further it. Remember, he will do it his way. Oni revealed he's spent a fortune (625 billion yen) buying out TKB Construction, the company whose president (the man in center w/the mask) forced Torao Construction into a hostile takeover a decade ago, the same (iirc) that led to the Torao family's ruin and Yuzuki's death. TKB, it turns out, is also the financial backbone propping up the VIPs who run the Secretaries' Association. By owning TKB, Onizuka owns the leverage that keeps the entire Official Sex system funded and running. Originally he had planned to humiliate TKB while within the official sex system (I think?) before meeting Ryuga.
Onizuka leaked the president’s longtime misdeeds, in front of all. Takebe (said President) panicked and in denial. Onizuka helped reach his own goal and taking down the system that traumatized his beloved.
Katagiri cornered Ryuga with their history with bullshit like ‘you called my name, we made love, I made every part of you’. He was trying to pull Ryuga back into the old identity. Ryuga slapped the shit out of him and said, "I've already forgotten it all," WELL DONE. Ryuga didn’t let the history lead him astray the way Katagiri wanted it to. Oh my god, that slap he gave to Katagiri was so good. Anyways, Ryuga finds Onizuka shortly after, and Oni lends him a hand to go home.
Ryuga remembered the past, his past self who suppressed his wants and desire for love and affection, then thanked Onizuka while crying. The latter mumbled that it ‘goes both ways, dummy’. The two walked out of the system that once tied them to hell. Onizuka has rid of the old Association structure, but he's keeping it functional in a reformed shape, no more Official Sex, it will be legitimate employment so the former secretaries aren't left with nothing.
Then the two of them get playful, Oni teased about "the contract" between them being over, no work, nothing technically binding them anymore. Ryuga jokes that Oni could just run, and Oni turns it back on him, pointing out Ryuga's the one who keeps kissing him and saying he loves him, so if anyone's staying, it's by choice now. "It's all up to you", a freely chosen relationship, oh how far they’ve come.
Oni said he'll never let Ryuga go, and Ryuga breaking down, saying Oni's the one who made him realize he could want happiness for himself, that he'd always felt stuck until now. Oni says "let me be the one to love you, from now on and forever," a love offered freely, with Ryuga's consent and desire. It ends wholesome and mutual, "I love you," "me too," (ME THREE).
They have hot sex and Ryuga says Oni is the first to make him experience this kind of sex (assuming the loving warm hot kind). Then, Onizuka tells Ryuga to call him Aoto (FIRST NAME BASIS YES!). Moving forward, we see Onizuka teaching the previous secretaries I think, and discussing the renovation project. Erm, I notice some of the former secretaries (previous ones who engaged in official sex battles) are blushing at the sight of him,
BACK OFF. The former secretaries are being annoying as shit lol, in a student way, but another asked if he was single. So on. Onizuka turns to an Oni just before Kouwa (props to him for helping) interrupted. He lets Oni know about TKB construction potentially making a u-turn to pick a new fight. Oni says he will just kick back if that happens, but as a legitimate business. Kouwa thinks some sweetness makes Onizuka more attractive, bruh though he isn’t wrong.
AWW! Ryuga is doing his best to speak as the new leader of the product development team in Oni’s company. The two squabble in a wholesome and cute way, see the ending for yourself. Ryuga smiled so beautifully. This relationship is so healthy, great communication, nothing is dragged on for too long, and has a meaningful end. Everything felt solved, though I might have missed something. Well, I did get lazy halfway through writing this.
In the EXTRA chapter, takes place 6 months after vol 2, Ryuga is at a table with some ladies, he says: “I guess…” when one of them asks if he has a partner. One asks if he is unhappy with the ‘girlfriend’, and Oni shows up lol. Oh my god I love this author, they address the students I mentioned earlier, this is why Ryuga was feeling down. He tells Onizuka how he knows the ‘former secretaries’ / students want to sleep with him, and they will fall for him.
Onizuka says it doesn’t matter, they don’t matter, since he only loves him. Ryuga teared up while saying he doesn’t have much confidence, then says the spice made him tear up. Oni’s heart was hit. He takes Ryuga to hotel, and says he will pound all of his feelings inside until the insecurities are gone bruh lmao. Ryuga said he believes it and rubs his aching butt. They also have their happy 1 anniversary later on in a ferris wheel, this is where Oni basically proposes by putting a ring on Ryuga’s finger. OH MY HEART.
Then comes the Author’s Note: it confirms my suspicions that Katagiri did want Ryuga exclusively, but honestly rather than phrasing it as love, I’d say it’s more of a love towards a handmade toy. Author stated this work has been serialized for 5 whole years alongside other works, wow, thank you for the dedication! They also explained it might not be polished, but I truly enjoyed this story, it seemed more polished than many short stories I have read. I liked that the author explained where the title name came from, “Strum my Voiceless was chosen with the image of strumming Ryuga’s true feelings”, and that makes a lot of sense.

In the story MC is getting raped by everyone. The previous king violated him, the current one did, the ugly dude did. MC is traumatised, he’s been through so much, from looks of it he gave up on his life, and is pretty much a puppet, he doesn’t resist and is getting even more traumatised.
