I don't think it's ordinary in Japan (most people go out with non relatives) but I don't think a lot of the population are against it. Which is funny to me, you can marry a relative (and have a higher chance of having children with genetic diseases than normal couples) but gay people can't marry. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍

First cousins are gross too. Parents are siblings. Share the same grandparents. It's too close.

Not comparable. Being gay and race isn't something you can choose. That's hard wired in you and can't be "fixed" no matter what. You can choose to be incestuous or not. Idc how much you try to defend it with other things. The fact that it causes genetic problems in breeding is proof enough to me that humans shouldn't be messing with their family. Even if they can't have children. Don't even get me started on the whole family dynamic stuff. Anyway incest is gross. You can keep defending this, but I'm going to feel the same way.

I don't agree with the normalization of it, because it's not normal, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to be rude to someone about it. It might weird me out, and I'm entitled to be weirded out, but I don't care what other people do.

im not normalizing it, im just saying you shouldnt condem it just because "its disgusting”， also, incest is pretty common in human (and in all animals) until people figured out incest = problematic children, so they stopped it by making it a taboo.
As matter of fact, people took pride in incest until like 150 years ago.

In that logic, you can also choose to not "be" gay, by not having sex with a man when you are attracted to men. If you fall in love your cousin, thats not something you can choose. A lot of thing mess up genetics, smoking, drinking, sun bathing, but does that stop people from doing it? At least incest isnt hurting your personal health, and if you dont have children, then there is no downside at all. Family dynamics is just a construct and in many parts of the world its different, so are you going to condem polagmy or wife/husband swap as well?

You have all the right to feel gross, but do know that you and the homophobe are two sides of the same coin.
