what bothers me isn’t the art style change but the way the story seemed to change along with it.. was the ending like that in the novel too??
i had read the novel a while back but i have to say that i believe it doesn’t do the novel justice. however since the translations were messy, i could just be putting it in a higher pedestal due to my imagination
then xinlu dies of an aneurysm and ilay sweeps tae off his feet (princess style) and they live happily ever after

That, and bullying, kidnapping, trafficking (sort of?? the kid was held captive in a strange place for some reason, mostly unexplained for now, so I'll add just to be safe), isolation, physical abuse, neglect, mental abuse, abusive work environments, unsafe BDSM, and dissociation + mind fuckery. Most of these are gradual or happen in later chapters, but there are hints sprinkled all throughout. Happy reading if you decide to give it a go!
