Yeah, and there seems to be this stupid notion that the initial consent wraps it up. Well, it doesn't, and Enzo deserves a good beating. And let's not forget, Rian intended to ruin his company from the beginning, though he seems a bit reluctant to do even that.
Well, his empathy acting up KIND OF makes sense. The main point here is their differences. We know that Rian has killed people, but when Enzo asked him about killing the Connector, he said he's not rotten like Enzo, and it's not like he's opposed to killing if he has to, but they're still fundamentally different. Also, Rian accepting that difference isn't the same as accepting Enzo, or forgiving him. Enzo's incapable of truly understanding what he did wrong, while Rian can, and if he does the same thing, it might not even hurt Enzo as much as it would hurt him!

I agree! But you lost me when you said Enzo is incapable of understanding. He absolutely understands that his interests are twisted and distasteful. which is why he warned Rian in the very beginning by telling him he should be grateful he isnt at all interested in him in any capacity DESPITE HIM KNOWING RIAN WAS THERE ON A AGENDA MIND YOU he was still willing to give rian a pass until Rian deliberately AND INTENTIONALLY did something to not only make him pay attention to him but also be more interested in him? Basically the exact opposite of what enzo told him? In return exciting him and green lighting Enzo’s desires? I mean he practically had that man BLUSHING in the first chapters. I do think that what Enzo did is wrong but at the same time. Rian kept going in for more. Everytime they interact with each other rian is never thinking about he doesn't want to do this, he wants to run away, etc. he’s always like oh hey i just seduced this guy, oh no now he’s into me and wants to F me, oh nooo. Rian is more bothered about being a bottom than he is about Enzo raping him. Like be so fr rn LMFAOOO

Its not like rian didnt know exactly who enzo was either, isnt that the point of his organization?. We cant pretend like Rian was some defenseless damsel in distress. i wouldnt even go so far as to call him a victim either. Rian deliberately provokes enzo just to stroke his own ego. if someone tells you an iron is hot and you burn yourself for touching it directly after.. who the hell is responsible for that? You. Yeah, no, I feel like you get my point, but not really. I didn't simply say "understand" but "truly understand", like on an emotional/moral level. Well, Enzo is a very self-aware character, but in a shallow and distant way. He knows that his taste is weird, harmful, uh, forget immoral, illegal! But it's not like Rian can even sue him, right? Also, Enzo doesn't think he has any emotional attachment to Rian (or anyone else, as far as we know), so what he does to Rian is just the same as going into a bar and shooting some strangers, from his supposedly immoral point of view!

That's why I'm saying his self-awareness is shallow. The attraction he feels right away translates into some possessive, twisted ownership. So, yeah, he knows his attraction is bad news for the other party, because: experience! And yet, he doesn't truly understand it. The difference is there: Rian's already struggling with moral conflict even before committing such cruelty, and simply by thinking about it. You see, Enzo's self-awareness doesn't extend that far, and right or not, remembering his words and seeing the marks on his back, Rian, who is very empathic, sees that as the very reason for their differences, which leads to dropping his original plan to take revenge in the same way!

And yeah, Rian does seduce him, excite/green light, and all the other things he does as a part of his job and character, but I think after their first time, it was Enzo's slow approach that put him at ease, which eventually changed things from 'keep your hands to yourself' to 'let's drop the lunch from lunchmate'. Rian's not stupid, but he was played there. Which made the horror of their second time happen. He really should beat Enzo up, at least~

And your example is weird, so let's go with another one. Someone's pointing a gun at you, threatening to shoot, and if they do shoot, who's at fault? You see, Enzo's warning Rian doesn't absolve him of his wrongdoings. You can't just be like 'I warned you, so it's on you!'

I was struggling to articulate what bored me with this story but "cheap mystery" is exactly it. We're spending chapters just repeating the same plot over and over again. So many other plot points are unaddressed here
