If you genuinely "hate the flashbacks" i REALLY suggest going back to chapter 1 after reading the flashbacks/insight into their youth. Reading them again gives them a totally new nuance - and it's genuinely like reading it for the first time after getting all of this info about their past together. I highly recommend it!!!

makes me doubt that some of you are above the age of 18 read more books* and develop some critical analysis skills. sometimes there's not one single answer, and you simply have to come to your own conclusion. your own moral compass does not need to adhere to the fiction you're reading.
(*I can even recommend some in the comments, even with gay themes.)
may i know the recs u have?
someone on tiktok dropped this because they couldn't handle the (and i quote) "gazillion chapters of plot" there's no hope i fear
yes! here you go, sorted them into three categories
"i would like to read some of the queer literary classics":
- denton welch "in youth is pleasure"
- oscar wilde "the picture of dorian grey"
- james baldwin "giovanni's room"
- edward morgan forster "maurice"
"I would like to read something as toxic/violent (if not more) and queer as unchanged man":
- dennis cooper "the sluts"
- poppy z brite "exquisite corpse"
- porpentine "serious weakness"
"I want to read erotica with a historical and literary perspective":
- john cleland "fanny hill"
- marquise de sade's books
- anaïs nin's books
- anne rice's "sleeping beauty" books (her vampire chronicles could also be sorted under toxic and queer imo)
btwwww if any of you end up reading one of these and have some feelings about them (that aren't just "gross" or "why does it contain x") my inbox is open!!!! i love books and talking about them
we are so doomed
thank you for these recs!! i'll def read all of these one by one<3
