I agree that "complex" gets thrown around too easily but I wouldn’t say something loses all value just because it doesn’t personally challenge you. complexity doesn't have to mean being shocked or uncomfortable every time, sometimes something is "complex" because it handles an idea with nuance or multiple layers even if you still agree with it'...... reply

I think there’s some truth to this comparison, obviously BL and porn aren’t the same thing, but both seem to attract a lot of moral judgment that can end up causing more harm than the thing people are criticizing in the first place.

You know what's weird? The way women are constantly asked to justify their hobbies romance, erotica, etc. while men can obsess over sports, action movies, or porn without anyone demanding a psychological breakdown.
