I'm still enjoying the manga but it is really something to observe in almost all the manga I've read how abusive families, especially abusive parents are always pushed to be understood and reconciled with. It's actually quite common in Asian societies to tolerate abusive family structures and normalize them. It's quite funny to see the West and East attack each other over nuclear vs joint family structures when both structures abet, protect and pass down quite abusive dynamics. It's also a pretty common thread in a lot of these Mangas to constantly talk about not communicating clearly enough with your abusers which is a pretty fantastical and naive approach. Especially when this communication depends entirely on the victim to either forego all their hurt entirely or focus instead of their abusers emotions in order to make the relationship work. It's very much a case of rather dragging a dead thing around than cutting it off. Also immense pressure on the victims to respond in the only, correct respectable way that is attempting to constantly win over abusers. These dynamics on a familial level also tell a lot about society on a larger, macro level, where victims are often harassed, punished and reprimanded for breaking the norm and sticking out, foregoing authority and tradition, and dragging private business into the public by attempting to confront abuse. Similar dynamics can be seen in literally every facet of society from work to private life. There remains that thread that children have to be up with this abuse because these are their parents who gave birth to them which they should be grateful for, rather than all this care being the parents responsibility for bringing a life into this world without their will. A society like Japan (S. Korea is worse) with such rigid hierarchies also contributes to normalizing such abusive dynamics. I don't think this manga is the harshest example of this, but it's really something how childhood abuse eventually gets repackaged into funny gag moments with the abuser. Works like this are quite different from more complicated works that actually tackle complex, hostile, possibly abusive dynamics by actually calling them out for what they are and treating them with the seriousness and weight they deserve with the victim often taking more complicated actions regarding their relationship with the abuser rather than constantly trying to 'talk' and 'express' themselves as though somehow the failure on the relationship was that the victim attempted to stop trying to placate their abuser. I guess this is the obvious result in a culture which like many others doesn't believe in emotional abuse, certainly not from parents.
All this to say I'm tired of the dad and how he's being handled with kids gloves and the adults around him apparently never stopping and protecting kids from his abuse and then pretending all is hunky-dory and now its just a matter of 2 people having a conversation directly to stop the abuse. I'm gonna skip whenever his face comes on.
Anywho, my thoughts regarding family structures are far more radical for this simple yaoi manga so I'll leave it here.
PS. Before someone tries me, yes I'm Asian, yes my culture regarding this is far more similar to the Japanese than you want to think so don't try me, yes I've lived in nuclear and joint families with many elderly relatives, and no my family didn't tolerate or protect abusive family structures.
As someone who cut off my emotionally abusive father and will not reconcile despite urgings and persuasions from relatives (who i then cut off for pestering me) I completely and wholeheartedly agree with you

(Asian, first gen immigrant family in West+Asia here) I'm low contact with my toxic family so I totally get what you're saying. No media, even outside of manga/manhwa, has ever perfectly encaptured the family dynamics of Asian households for me. Either they point out the toxicity perfectly but then poorly bandages the ending with a cringy unrealistic happy "resolution", or yeah as you said perpetuate this concept of the victims (which are the younger gen) just accepting the faults of the elders because they are our elders and they lived terribly so we have to be understanding of that and accept their generational trauma...
But there is this one K-BL webtoon that I really liked that I thought wrote on this topic quite well. Love for Sale by Dal Hyeonji. The complete series is not on here as the author found out about the pirated uploads and took strong actions against it, so you might have to dig deep or buy it to read it. And the family part wasn't really touched on heavily but boy oh boy was it good. The MC and his sister towards the end just have a really deep talk about how their childhood abuse severely affected them. I personally love how their convo basically went "our parents abused us, and we were too hurt that we couldn't see we only had each other and it's unfortunate we couldn't give each other the support we both needed back then."
To my memory, the author didn't take the "but they're still our parents" route most storylines like these usually take. It was a refreshing "it was fucked up, but that was our childhood and we can't change what we went through, only what we can go through now." And iirc, it's just the MC and his sister rebuilding their relationship and supporting each other with the parents out of the picture. I loved it and this family part was short, but it really complemented the main romance storyline MC had with the ML. It was the first time I truly felt that the author knew how childhood trauma really plays into adult psyches and social behaviour. It wasn't the best story I ever read, but wow that part at least was one of the most memorable writing I've ever come across in BL webtoons.
I feel like saying that he's being pushed to be understood is kinda wrong for this one because there's no hints of the author trying to make us like him or forgive or understand ? like the dad is a piece of shit and I don't remember a moment where any of them has said ''oh well it's okay'' like they're not okay with it either and they're not trying to fit into what he wants. they're actually doing the opposite where they're clearly telling him ''hey if you don't want to accept us we literally won't change but I still won't cut you off either'' and it's also probably because he doesn't want to like kinda lose to his dad? but also not everyone always wants to completely cut off, I personally fought with my parents for YEARS before they actually bent realized their mistakes and apologized and tried to change, it took time but it happened. some people choose to try and make their family understand that they don't want to cut them off completely but they won't back down ever to their expectations... also yano made the choice himself to face his dad, it's said in the manga about how he wants to do this because he needs this for his own closure, and he doesn't just want to let go and abandon talking about this stuff. he's choosing for himself even if from the outside to other people anyone who does that would look like a victim trying to reason an abuser, some people just don't want to let go before actually resolving the issue even when they're in the ''victim'' position. victims can still defend themselves and put up a fight to get their closure, if the closure they want is cutting the family off, that's their choice, but it's also their choice if they want to fight back and not leave it at just ''no one will talk about it and no one will call this piece of shit out for what they did''. I'm not sure how else I could formulate to explain better so I'm sorry if this is hard to understand or anything
I'm in the minority but I prefer him with the veil and face completely covered. His face is cute enough but not what I was imagining a nature spirit to look like. He just looks like a random pretty boy, not a fantastic spirit so I'm lowkey dejected. At least give him longer hair! That veil would clash horribly with his current hairstyle.
