Am I the only one who really doesn't like the childhood friend trope in Mangas.
Like I just can't get into it at all.
You've been friends so long all the while secretly loving the other person?? It's like tainting the concept of friendship. I know it's not that deep but i really hate it when people say guys and girls can't be friends and it just turns out to be the truth cuz of things like this.
Also thinking fictionally also , I really don't like childhood friend tropes cuz the chemistry is just not there you know.
Where is the electrying 1st meeting? The shyness and awkwardness ? The getting to know each other phase? Opening up about your life and sharing each other's interests??
Like are you gonna skip all that to read about a couple who basically grew up together like siblings??

And i think a lot of authors put it in there as like “look these two were fated to be together bc they met so young and no one can compete with that kind of bond” but like… thats not how it works. It’s rly lazy imo cause they dont put any effort into giving them chemistry like u said. Plus it’s just boring to see flashbacks lmfao
Yeah I’m not a fan, especially if the other party has moved on with their lives and suddenly when they think they’re losing their childhood friend who has always been in love with them they realize they’ve loved them all along too.
I dislike it when it’s heavily one-sided. But I feel like it’s different when it’s a queer childhood friend trope bc that’s what a lot of queer people go through..(having to keep their feelings secret bc of homophobia)
Also feelings don’t only have to come from attraction. It can also form from connection.
Even that. Like I get starting off as friends then getting feelings for the person later. That is normal. But when you are childhood friends, that means you are almost siblings. If you fear homophobia from others, then you are not going to pursue that person. In that case many people in the real world move on. They fondly remember their crush but definitely move on.They don't lust after their friend for years. I know cuz I have a lot of queer friends.
But in mangas they are fooling their friends for years with their fake friendship
True, I always found it strange that they never move on after liking them for several years(in mangas). I don’t know if “fooling” is the correct word choice. Friends that fall for each other can be common. Unless someone is going into a “friendship” with the intent of dating, then that would be fooling.
Pls recommend stories where 2 guys are chasing after the same girl/guy but end up falling in love with each other instead.
I just love this trope and I think it's so underrated
