While I do agree that this particular sentence was wierd, it doesn't invalidate the fact that tei was skeptical about doing sexual stuff with him. When shuraka killed the man ryvannar was sleeping with and then came back to him, after two told him the story of a god, you can see where he said two doesn't love him, and two also thought to himself that his reply is grounded in loyalty. Also tei wants to be useful to his kingdom, he wants to fufil his role as a consort (this was mentioned but y'all won't see it, cause of filtered vision). He's standing in front of the King. He thinks it's his duty to serve him at night.
And about the tournament stuff, I'm not gonna justify whatever it is that was done there cause I'm not the author. But the way I view it is that, if shuraka was to continue avoiding him, tei fears he would lose his place in the kingdom. Also if shuraka blood key on being golden, he would have died pretty soon, or something bad would've happened
