Might be because I had seen too many edits of this BL on tiktok before I read this for the first time, but I feel like this trope…has been done before? Maybe in BGs or something like that. Loved the middle section so much still though the way things were written.This time I kinda didn’t get much from the ML. I get its not his pov but he as a character comes off as a bit hollow/too stoic/not fully realized. Their chemistry in the present also felt awkward even at the end plus the ending felt very rushed/a bit too convenient. Still a very very solid story ┗( T﹏T )┛

My first BL and also the one that got me into BLs…but that was like almost 10 years ago and this shit is still going on omfg. Seriously this should’ve had only 1 season and maybe some side stories. I’ve stopped keeping up with all the new seasons after season 3 or sth when I realized that the plot was not going anywhere. The dragging on and on is making me feel a lot lower on this every single time

I’m on chap 67 right now and I just can’t stand how ridiculously and conveniently dumb the MC is to push the story line like up until now I’ve empathized with his trauma and that he’s okay with dying bc he can’t do that on his own like sure you can be selfish like that I understand bc what you have been through but wdym you keep accepting things from obvious enemies and interacting with them and always end up causing trouble. I went into this having really high expectations bc all the recs from THGLL. The actions are good I guess but man the MC is really getting on my nerves. The ML up until now hasn’t been nice or an outstanding/interesting character either like idk

I just finished this manhwa. I’d give it a 6.5 overall. I don’t think it’s as good as some other similar ones, esp Mission: Save the Hunter (I.e. Death Delayed for a short time by the Will). If you want one that has a more competent MC and more empathetic ML, I would give that a try if you haven’t already. I will say tho, it is WAY more emotionally devastating than this. I can’t count how many times it’s made me cry and it’s ongoing. Art style is also cleaner imo.
I did cry at the end of this story, but I agree with your critiques of it. I think it’s worth finishing if you’re already 2/3 through it, but I think you can find other stories that are similar concepts in the hunterverse that are better executed. For Shounen Ai, I think The Hunter Wants to Live Quietly is also a good option. The romance is slower burn and it’s not quite as emotionally intense with survivors guilt, but it’s still got an evasive, tired MC and a precocious, powerful, and pushy ML in a hunterverse setting. Also ongoing.

Yea I actually finished the whole thing right after complaining lol. I would say the last 20 chaps or so weren’t as bad as I thought they would be but the story as a whole was still somewhat underwhelming. I think I ended up rating 8 sth so it’s still one of the better ones for me because the plot is still quite unique and the writing is competent with good intentions etc. And yes same haha I came here because I couldn’t let THGLL marinate and now am craving for anything similar. I do look forward to how the author of that story will handle the emotional aspects of the story tho
Just figured out what THGLL means LMAO my bad bestie. Yeah if you haven’t already, I’d check out M:STH (if you don’t mind smut, although tbh the smut doesn’t come into play at all for over 50 chapters). I think we had similar experiences with this story. Hopefully you find others you enjoy!!

I’m sorry I want to start reading this one again properly this time but I have been somewhat keeping up with the updates and read bits and pieces here and there but I’m confused.
Like when this first started Ash forgot theyve met before and kissed Kyle anyway in chap 1 or sth and I thought from the novel Ash mistook Kyle for someone he loved or he kinda used Kyle to replace someone he loved or sth like that. Why does it seem like it’s just straight up a love drama now and the kissing scene doesnt matter anymore???
I don’t think ash ever kissed Kyle, but if you mean karlyle yes they have met before this. It was a few years ago at new years where him and karlyle kissed, karlyle introduced himself as Lyle, and when ash went back the next day to find him he wasn’t there. He was looking for Lyle but most likely forgot what he looked like since it had been a while and since he was in the states I’m sure he was not really in a clear head space with everything that happened with hazel (his ex bf who cheated on him).
There was some drama between him, nick, and Kyle however. I’m not 100% since I haven’t read eggs Benedict (story before dtr) but to summarize basically ash had something going on with nick. I think it was before nick became an omega because ash had started going out with alphas and nick was a beta. I believe he was just a rebound for nick because him and kyle were going through some things in their relationship but got it sorted out.
This leads to ash and karlyle having tension due to the fact karlyle knows about his and nicks relationship and he was likely hostile because he thought he was getting in the way of nick and kyle. So they fought and stuff ig.
Ash agreed to help out probably because it was nick asking and it turned out to be karlyle that he was meeting. That’s kinda why there’s some tension there, ofc that is until he actually gets closer to karlyle.
The kissing does come back when karlyle tells ash to wait for him and that he’s forgotten something. Which leads to them kinda recreating the kiss when they meet up again and ash tells him that he’s been looking for karlyle all along he just didn’t realize it was him.
Idk if that clears anything up I kinda didn’t understand what you were asking but hopefully it helps somewhat

Although it kills me to read this chapter but I love that the author is keeping the story emotionally grounded and also reinforcing its themes through these side stories even with all the fluffiness from the cutie pootie toothie twins. Love seeing some internal thoughts from Geumryang to see how much hes learned about the meaning of a mortal life from Taesun so helps a bit with developing him more than just a 2D hubby character. Anyways Im ready to see the three of them finding Taesun again in his after life (maybe still with his grandpa this time) ┗( T﹏T )┛
