This title just came on my radar after seeing jaxx’s post about this title, so I immediately came here to see if someone uploaded it.
I’d like to ask for someone to educate me/explain how this was racist? was it the last line? I saw the mc free the workers calling them free people which made me confused on this.
I am NOT saying that this shouldn’t have been canceled especially after reading that last line but I feel like im missing something here, thank you!
EDIT I UNDERSTAND NOW: I just read the official synopsis of this title and yikes. Now I completely understand why everyone is saying it’s racist. the cowboy was not saying the last line sarcastically like I assumed:

I also didn’t realize that the workers were drawn without faces meanwhile the businessman (?) DID have a face. Not to mention the scene where he freed the slaves really did have some “white savior” vibes.

Im also curious, but if ill have to guess probably bcz of the slave in the genre?? (In short the author was depecting slavery ig??) Idek thats what i understand
The tone I got from his declaration was more sarcastic rather than sincere.
I read that as a sarcastic remark, so I didn’t even think to consider he might’ve genuinely been proudly declaring that! Thx you :)
I would recommend u to read about white saviour trope/narrative
Its the way the story props up the white mc as a "good slave owner" as well as his family. All the whiles propping up the "romance" aspect in using the slaves as a foil to it. I might add the sht sorry excuse of the Native design.
Even if he would say it’s sarcasticly it’s still a really tone deaf thing to write as an author me thinks
I believe it was sarcasm, but that still doesn’t negate the fact that it’s extremely inappropriate to say when “his people” are actively facing a genocide and enslavement. It’s extremely tone deaf. Do you think a Korean woman would joke about calling herself a comfort woman to a Japanese Imperialist soldier? I think not…

for SURE tone deaf!! I originally thought the last line of him being a slave was a disgusting one liner never to be spoken again after the scene. After reading the synopsis it was made clear to me how exactly this was racist. Im so ashamed of jaxx :(
It is definitely tone deaf. Im unfortunately used to poc making self deprecating jokes about the terrible things their people are going through (I am guilty of this) so originally just brushed it off as a gross one liner. I read the synopsis and it became clear that its way more than that and he literally labels himself as his slave. So ashamed of jaxx

Hi, Im trying to find this one ongoing yaoi that was on my reading list before it got nuked.
The bottom, who lived in an orphanage and was an artist (I remember him making portraits of the top) and saw the top as his adoptive brother? before their relationship got intimate. The top put distance between the bottom and sent him away for a while too, one thing I remember about the art style was the bottom’s mouth always being like :0 ??? I remember so many details about this yaoi.
The bottom had blue eyes, and the top had this amber like colored eyes? I also remember a scene where I think the top’s father told him not to pursue a relationship with the bottom.
