The aunt from the Angenas family confuses me. She's had kids with this man, why is she so determined to help undermine Lombardi ? One of the practices the Angenas are against and want to abolish is the head being determined by worth and not primogeniture like the other noble houses. So in theory, if they were to succeed, her son would inherit Lombardi. Does she not want him to have a decent inheritance ? Does she not want her kids to have wealth, comfort and prestige ? Do they mean nothing to her because of their last name ?
She clearly married into the Lombardi , which was an unheard of thing since they had a long feud, because she was sent to ruin the lombardi and put them under the merci of the angenas, the Lombardi grandpa didn’t accept the marriage at the beginning, he was forced technically to relent and accept. she married the oldest thinking he’d inherit the seat and clearly now they realised he wouldn’t. So the next best thing is to use him as a pawn against his own father by showing to the public that even his son abandoned him an d is working for the enemy family. The one who decided this is the empress, not the wife, so even if it goes against the benefit of her two children she has to follow the orders of her cousin the empress.
Like the other comment said, she was essentially sent to infiltrate and get control of the Lombardi family since they’re one of the biggest threats to the first prince’s ascension to CP (and eventually emperor). Because if she married the heir/leader of the family, it would look like it was a given that the Lombardis were on Astana’s side and supported his rule. I wouldn’t be surprised if she only sees her kids as pawns too.
My other theory about having him takeover for the development is so that if anything goes wrong, the empress has a good chance to push it on the lombardis and ruin their reputation without them taking any responsibility. If it goes well, they’ll be able to take all the credit. Either way, it’s a win win for them.

That’s true, if it fails it’s the lombardi s fault because everything was okay until they got involved but if it succeeds it’s for the angenas because it’s theirs plus the world would think that the lombardi is cracking down and experiencing relationship problems since the first son abandoned his father business and became the angenas dog.
