wow, what a beautiful story! i really didn’t expect to enjoy it so much, especially in the beginning. but throughout the story il and leewon really developed a depth in character you don’t usually see in bl manhwa.
this was genuinely so heartbreaking to read but also good. you rarely see stories where the protagonist deeply and atrociously fucks up and where it isn’t just swept under the rug. the ml's road to forgiveness felt really comprehensible and not forced at all. loved it! (though seeing the ml all beat up up was genuinely hard to read)
can someone recommend me some older shoujo like ai yazawa's, fuyumi souryo's or akimi yoshida's works??

man their family dynamic really reminds me of that one poem even though it’s meaning doesn’t translate one to one. the one about the father and the daughter looking down on the mother, exchanging meaningful glances agreeing she cannot reason as they do isn’t as bright as they are etc.

i genuinely cannot put my feeelings for this manhwa into words, but i'll try. it's been 6 years since i've first read dark heaven, i grew up, the world has changed but the impact this manhwa left on me hasn't. the storytelling and character building comes second to none and is just so captivating. with the rise of right wing ideology the topics covered in the story are as prevelant as ever. if you haven't read it yet, dark heaven has to be one of the best bl stories i've ever read and tells a beautiful yet heartbreaking story of love in a world full of hate.
