They might be talking about another story. The one I know was that the FLs mom was Duchess's trusted maid and she slipped some meds and went after Duke. She also had white hair. FL was accepted by the Duchess which then died (dunno of childbirth or illness).

No no, you were right...it was in a way, a rape, because the mom was not a dancer but was forced/"paid" by the Empress's brother to seduce the duke this one time by blackmailing her with i don't remember why, but IIRC it was because she was ostrasized 'cause of her green eyes too....after he (the count ? Right… it doesn’t make any sense. The earlier chapters clearly illustrate how the ML exposed Adele to the horrors of high society, waiting for her to beg him to save her, all to boost his ego and superiority over her. The power imbalance btwn commoner/noble was their whole ass dynamic.
They couldn’t undo what was already written and now it feels like the BS’d to somehow redeem the ML. It’s like they switched the mindset of the MLs.

I’ve been noticing this pattern a lot in manhwas lately: the ML treats the FL horribly, crosses every possible line, and then somehow they still end up together like none of it mattered. It’s framed as romance, but it’s actually just toxic behaviour being rewarded.
At some point it stops being “dark” or “complex” and just becomes bad writing
Toxic shit like this needs to get out of "romance" genre. People justify by saying "oh its dark romance" like no girl its assault.
