I’ve let the webtoon build up more to finally see the chapters about Riftan finding out about the abuse, and I am pretty disappointed with how they represented it. In the novel it was ten times more intense, and the moment Ruth saw Maxi, Riftan was already to his way to her, rushing to coddle her, totally panicked. That is why he told him not to touch her, because he already got her and wanted to comfort her first.
And I dislike how they kinda depicted his demeanor after that as some kind of jealously, him not wanting her to see the knights and especially Ruth, that wasn’t his sentiments at that moment.
But that is the issue with adaptation I guess

Have you realized how Maxi is building up courage ? She faced another dangerous situation but wasn’t so startled (yeah I know she froze because she thought it was too late for her buuuuut she didn’t faint afterwards this time!) and it didn’t shake her determination to go to the battlefield (and yeah, we all know she is still not prepared enough for this but let me be a little proud of her gaining confidence 2 seconds pls)

For the novel readers we know what will come up at the end of this arc, but still, I am just happy to see her by herself and not doubting herself and trying her best in those moments. They were necessary for her development, in spite of the tragic consequences. I can’t wait for the webtoon to het there but I am also so scared, my heart will break all over again lol
