i hate to break it to the gay shippers, but this is a harem, consisting of only female characters. When it comes to male Korean webnovel authors of high/epic fantasy worlds, if they are making a point that multiple girls are obsessed with mc and want to marry him... you better believe it will turn into a harem 70% of the time. They love handwaving the ethics of polygamy with "it's fantasy fiction, morals don't mean shit". So just bc the mc only sees them as his children so far doesn't mean shit. Don't so many romances have that premise of a love interest relentlessly pursuing the non-interested protagonist until they wear them down? Also, there's a lot of stories where the harem members force the harem arrangement on the protagonist even tho he may not agree to it (shallow virtue signaling). so, in other words, even tho the novel isnt completed yet, writing the mc to be passive/dense and not reject the harem members as they try to seduce him is a very intentional choice, likely to set up a harem ending, whether or not he actively or passively accepts it. Especially since the author's previous webnovel was also a full-fledged harem... dont give this work the benefit of the doubt. (if u like harem, ig u can rejoice)
like i said, the viewing characters as children to eventually lover pipeline is real. there is so many "open ending harem" stories where the mc isnt interested in the harem members but then they force the harem on him for bullshit reasons and/or the story doesnt resolve the romantic plotlines bc the mc doesnt reject them and just let the status quo continue where he's just passive to their advances. even if currently the mc only sees them as children, the story hasn't finished yet, and you don't know what kind of asspull move harem authors will do. ive been burned way too many times by these authors so im not gonna give the benefit of the doubt about the buildup of several girls falling for him, especially since their previous work IS a harem
Lmao i get it i hate harem too, but later in the novel they see him as a respectable figure dw especially when his power is revealed. I see more bromance than harem tho especially when mc bodyguard looking for him in every reincarnation and mc genuinely doesn’t open up to anyone beside his bodyguard
dont get the hate on Fuuka, unless im missing some context in the anime. How was she supposed to know the fmc liked the ml and wasnt dating the other guy, when everyone else believed the rumors too? she shot her shot, and succeeded, only bc the ml agreed to date her. there's a little bit of drama afterwards when she realized fmc liked ml bc she genuinely wanted to be with him, but she didn't drag on a losing battle on her end. she accepted her loss maturely and moved on.
so, i guess in the end this is just a straightforward story where he explores different types of love in each route and leaves the simulation after completing the routes? i dont know why i was expecting a plot twist, like ie the seemingly simple story turns awry into a psychological drama that explores the regression mechanics and messy relationship dynamics.
just started reading this, and i LOVE mc (top)'s wife. she actually feels like a person, instead of a female character there to check off boxes. i noticed that, while a lot of bl authors try to give female charas more dimension and variety to subvert outdated female character stereotypes, they still have relatively flat one-note personalities and motivations, and are used as tools for the mcs's growth and plot development, instead of being fleshed out characters with dynamic personalities (altho this is usually a marker of bad writing rather than misogyny). most female charas in bls are relegated to these boxes: the loyal and manly bestie, the fujoshi ally, supportive or evil mother, the "straight man" secretary-type, cute little girl, or scorned, jealous bitch (usually either arrogant rich girl or white lotus). the mc's wife/bestie is so much more than that-- she's a great comedic foil to the mc and grear platonic friend, she's a niave shelterd rich girl but not spoiled rotten and is willing to work and to become less reliant on mc, a theatrical crybaby capable of lying, a beauty who cares about her appearance but not shallow or vain, and a cat mom (lol). anyway, i love her, she feels like a mc herself, and i hope the story stays consistent in her writing.
edit: ok nvm the mc ISNT a top, he's a bottom, he's just been turned into a bottom bc of his love interest lmao. anyway, loved that the wife got her own happy ending. by the end, she matured into a productive member of society and grew independent enough to decide her own marriage. the story truly makes mc and her relationship feel like their orbits were simply intersecting when they were married, instead of her being written as a tool that revolved around how to serve the mc.
confused about smth. on ch 33, mc realized there was no connection between the rule about not leaving her room at night, and not having the red rose in her room. she had thought that the rose mysteriously put her outside the room at night, but in reality, the rose turned people into smth inhuman. so how did she end up outside? was she also accidentally turned inhuman for a short while and walked out with her own two feet when becky placed the rose in her room?
i guess i the only one who doesnt like the romance and jair's implied feelings for miria (as it could result in unnecessary love drama), i feel it falls into the outdated "he's man(ly looking) and she's a woman(ly looking) so therefore it's natural they will get together" trope. i mean, is it even possible for genderless aliens who dont produce sexually to fall in love? also, dont understand why people are calling ryder the dad since the whole point of the story is that everyone mori came across (the wolves, his redhead friend, aiya, ofc miria and ryder, the fah servants) are his moms
nah, it's at best implied. i thought i was overthinking it too when miria and ryder were discussing the concept of parents, jair's mood suddenly got a little intense and he even crumpled a piece of paper, i initially chalked it up to him being envious of them bc he wanted to be mori's parent too. but jair specifically interrupting this ambiguously romantic mood later on is a deliberate choice. which recontextualizes his weird reaction in the earlier chapters. but if im wrong, then im wrong. i would be happy to be wrong. BUT if there's romance progression happening again, and jair is involved in the scene again, then that's basically confirmation.

when young shin witnesses his father kneeling as he receives the decree from the king, he sees this as the ideal picture of devotion between retainer and a good king, just like in the storybooks. however, his father is far away from him and his back is turned to him so he cant really see his face, which symbolizes his naivety and ignorance of the truth.
in the next scene when young shin witnesses his father working at night, their positions are closer and he's now able to see part of his tired face, implying that he's growing closer to the truth and reality of the relationship between his father and the king, and he is becoming aware that it's not idealistic and something is wrong.
when his father visits him and is kneeling down to tie his shoelaces, shin atp knows the king is bad. his father's kneeling represents not honorable loyalty, but helpless submission to the king and his authority, and even tho they are facing each other now, his father's averted gaze not daring to look up (whether out of guilt for his son or deference towards the king's possession) as he asks the question shows he knows what the king is doing to his son and his choice of willful ignorance. his son knows that and that he knows that his son knows. tying his shoelaces while it shows his love, it also shows how insignificant and limited his ability to help his son.
stop reading this like 4 years ago and forgot how peak this story was
