(not a spoiler, just interpretation based on all we've seen in and before that chpt.). hope that helped a bit. (esp since u will not know what yeonwoo did for a bit longer)

All these events are taking place in America. The past events are when Taehwan and Yeonwu went to the same private school on the east side. And, the current events are taking place at an unknown university in america.
they were in america back when they were in high school and are still in america currently while in university!
as yeonwu said, taehwan is from california and yeonwu is originally from south korea but he’s studying aboard in america.
