this prince did exactly the wrong thing by not showing his love for her explicitly but just sending her food for some odd reason. bc he stupidly thought "she loves food, if i give her food she'll be happy and know i love her", that like elementary school level of fostering relationships. he didn't even notice or ask her the reason for her weight loss and thought "I'll send her food so she gains weight". he's so sure he knows her and assumes everything about her, he never really got to know her in depth and relied on his love confession from when they were children to assume she knows of his feelings for her and that's why she never felt loved by him and felt like she was embarrassing him qnd not worthy of him.
