Hear me out, my boy's biggest fear was being left alone, and I think that's the only reason he stayed. He doesn't look happy at all. If you noticed, it's not the same smile anymore,he's deeply broken. He hasn't healed from anything. I think the only reason he stays with Jaekyung and allows himself to be manipulated is because he doesn't want to be alone after his grandma passes away. He is tricking himself into loving him so he can stay sane.We all knew she was going to die, and Kim Dan knew it too. So he clung to the only person he had left, even though nothing ever changed. Nobody healed. He just keeps letting himself be manipulated because he's terrified of being abandoned.
And honestly, I bet that if he were left completely alone, he might even end up killing himself because he wouldn't be able to handle everything that happened to him because of Jaekyung. It gives Stockholm syndrome so bad. Bro i don't even think the author give a single thought about this it looks like they just drew whatever but that's the only thing i can accept because of how shitty it is

that was so bad no character development and kim dan looks like a complete id*iot. i heard the author rushed everything but like, all this for that kind of ending? i think the author realized that they f*ccked it up so bad that there was no remose for it. they made jaekyung complete evil and now he is out there realizing his 'feelings' after my boy died and comeback alive. did the author really needed to push it this far..like we get it he is a horrible person bla bla-but we needed to see at least one good side oof him to feel some empathy which there WASN!T-there was nothing for his development it's crazy. atp just wrap it up bro(which they did)
