I’m not a novel reader but I heard they most definitely will have a lot of chemistry almost like the chemistry you see between chase miller and josh in kiss me if you can. In the beginning chase and josh fought a lot and didn’t get along at all. I genuinely couldn’t see the chemistry but as they progressed they understood each other better you just have to wait it out.
Dane genuinely thinks he can't love and that's why he doesn't date anyone, but after Grayson saves darling he asks Dane for 3 months of trial dating, and at the end Grayson will leave him alone forever. Dane agrees because of the whole saving Darling thing and also because he doesn't think Grayson is really in love with him and it's just some lark. He slowly starts to understand how Graysons brain works and feels genuine sympathy for the fact that he went through things Dane would consider abuse as a kid.
