there’s a very fine line between plots with rape that further a storyline vs adding it because it’s an easy way to only make a yaoi have more buzz. SA, taking someone autonomy and choice, adds so much conflict between aaron and yujins characters that it makes complete sense in this story’s context
yujin abandoning aaron can be justified by how horrible his father was and believing he’s atoning for his father by restricting and hurting himself because it’s all he has control over. what he doesn’t know is despite all this, aaron has already processed this and knew everything!! and STILL wants to be with him. unfortunately, the loneliness and fear that aaron deeply feels makes him assume his kindness and patience didn’t “work”, so in his frenzied, desperate state he thinks dominating or being cold is what’ll make yujin understand the depth of his love. but controlling him also meant using the same overbearing power yujins own father used against him. what aaron failed to realize and will also grovel over is yujin hates himself more than he loves aaron and it’s something he’ll spend a lifetime making up for

don’t get me wrong, i think this author is amazing at building romantic and sexual tension without character building but i would’ve loved to see the main story with some of this information hinted. it’s funny how della’s backstory adds necessary depth and better understanding to his personality, because i genuinely thought he was insane for the love of the game. this new lore contextualizes his motivations and thought processes!!

i prefer main characters who are a bit more serious and have a fleshed out personality. this genre is over saturated now so ive been a bit disappointed with new stories because every single mc has been super predictable falling into repeated tropes

everyone read this NOW!! these characters feel lived in and full of chemistry. it always bothers me how spy manhwa often has unbelievably dumb and naive main characters during missions. specifically with yaoi, i dropped so many stories because of the “super intelligent and high ranked spy” not being able to honey pot correctly and not acting natural. the gap moe of the main character is so good, and it’s easy to see his charm and appeal. i love how both characters have a good sense of themselves and care about other interests or relationships- but are magnetically drawn to each other even when it compromises parts of their goals
it’s toxic, but you can see parts of the ml walls cracking from how lovable his partner is
the awkwardness, teasing, and jokes!! it’s refreshing to see a fwb storyline that focuses on the talk and reactions. seeing them go back to foreplay and penetration felt natural and built up the sexual tension again without feeling forced. also the uke is really erotic i want him bad… i understand seme’s one sided love much more from how cute and honest he can be
obsessed tops are delicious but this story seem so bland… we learned very little about them and only know how they’re childhood friends and the situation that led up to their promise. it’s giving “the boy who bullies you because he likes you” and not undying love and affection. the plot is there but since they’re not fleshed out characters the story falls flat. even though the art is great i hate to say the chemistry is not there
