So I read 4 chapters and I assume it gets better considering it's decently highly rated, however my thoughts on the first few chapters is this:
I don't understand or buy the revenge plot. The reason being that the reason his friends "betrayed" him was not only incredibly valid and clearly being proven in real time, but as the one who killed that demon king, he should be able to understand why they did it as well. Saying they should pay for it. That he wants to tear them limb from limb makes no sense to me and I simply don't buy into it at all.
Second, the training arc returning to his real strength is basically off screened. There is no chance for development in any sense of the word. No relationship development, character development, etc. They missed out on an opportunity to clearly define his character and level of strength and commitment to his cause, making it even more difficult to buy into the revenge plot.
Lastly, when the demon lord appears in his body, he had a very minimal reaction to hos friends point being proven correct and this evil being he basically gave his life to defeat being inside him. His reaction was lackluster at best. Again with the crappy revenge plot that doesn't work at all, it also just shows no character depth for him as a main character nor does it give any depth to his trials as a hero in his first life.
It's subtle but the reason he gives in to a darker side is a mix of being tainted by the darkness and not being am entirely "good person" to begin with. The story never actually explains why he went on the original journey, but it does seem implied that he was only there because the people who were his friends asked him to be, he himself didn't care about killing the demon lord thus fueling his need for revenge for their betrayal. As for His strength gaining it never ends he is still gaining power in the last 5 chapters and these powers are often is rushed and poorly explained. I feel like this could have been a lot longer story and been better for it, But they cut straight to mostly the main plot points. Overall still a good read but not very deeply explained at any point.
I was not expecting lore accurate mythology from some random smutty manhwa. The greek mythology is on point and idk why it's bothering me. Prob bc most public and well known media isn't this accurate. Even down to the way cupid behaves and is mentioned to enjoy mischief to being Aphrodite's son born from chaos like why did yall do so much research for this? Or is the author just a fellow mythology nerd?
Why exactly do people not like dion? I actually like him quite a bit. Though he's clearly not the ml I cant help but feel bad for him. Especially simce the actual ml sucks. He's an asshole with major anger issues. I genuinely don't know what the mc sees in him. I personally would like dion more but hey that's just me. Everyone needs therapy in this manhwa anyway.
I hate the main character shes an inconsiderate a hole who doesn't deserve the male lead's kindness. First she promises not to abandon him then she proceeds abandon him despite knowing his trauma with abandonment. Then proceeds to give no context to her leaving, not even letting him know that she's safe. He doesn't deserve the way she left with no word and then continued to lie about not knowing him. Idc what her mother said, he treated her so kindly and did nothing but help her so at the very least he deserves a letter explaining things. This isn't miscommunication it's a lack of communication and an unwarranted one at that. Dropped just because of her.

Just finished the novel, phew 10/10 amazing, biased though. Unbiased perhaps 9.5/10. No spoilers review: It really explores the complexities of love. Makes you feel all the emotions. I cried in heartbreak, smiled at heartwarming moments, and laughed joyfully all within the same chapter sometimes. Here's a really good translation link for yall who wanna read. I recommend starting from the beginning bc while the manhwa is good, the mc is a quiet person and a lot of the story is his internal thoughts and dialogue. The novel does a better job at communicating his true thoughts and feelings which with a relatively non speaking mc is essential. But for those who really want to know, season one of the manhwa ends with chapter 11 in the novel. https://sites.google.com/view/dd-dark-mode/dd-all-chapters?authuser=0
