Rape itself can hardly make me dislike a story, it's just that the story seems too silly and pointless overall and nothing about it seems special or pleasant enough for me to want to continue where i left of. Not any of the two main characters, not their relationship, because it's pretty much non existent - one has beautifully colored eyes, the other one has pretty eyes and nice skin, so let's have non-consensual and boringly drawn sex ' dialogue is unconvincing and art is just averange. I would like to hear what you like about it tho. Does a fantasy about a beautiful exotic prince falling crazy in love at first sight with a blank slate uke who girls are supposed to project themselves onto simply appeal to your taste or are there other reasons? I don't like that kind of thing so maybe that's partially why i don't find the story enjoyable.

I see what your saying, the plot itself doesn’t have anything special. But I’m pretty simple with yaoi and “romance”, to me personally I love anything that connects with their childhood, perhaps they were childhood friends, or when they met it changes their life. So just knowing that the seme might have been the little boy in the beginning got me thinking I’ll be wholesome, I didn’t realize it until now because to be honest, I read it pretty quickly to the part he realize that the seme is the same boy of who he met when he was a child, and personally I don’t think all “girls” are the only one who project themselves. Any who, the seme didn’t ask for forgiveness is something I just realize, mostly all semes say that their sorry but maybe since he’s a prince he have not really thought it was needed. Surly it was wrong, since the uke was straight and the prince just f*cked him when he was drunk,, most people would hate that which is understandable. So yeah, I personally just like it because they met when they were young, and I just hope that the author could have change it so everyone could have enjoyed it. But did you meant to say the art is average? Which art? Overall or the sex parts?

Ok, fair enough... I just thought the art overall was very typical for yaoi, not really an eyesore but not really something special enough to stop me from leaving. I wouldn't even mention it if the story was good, bc I don't really mind it that much, it's just same shit I saw many times before. Meaning, I love Daydream Nightmare for it's characters and the relationship between them, even the story is somewhat entertaining, but the art both here and there is not as much it's redeeming quality as it is simply a tool used to tell a story.

And I get that not only girls could project themselves onto the MC, but this manga just seems to be one of those written first and foremost by fujoshi for fujoshi, so that's why I said it like that. Which I don't consider to be a bad thing in its own, I am a fujoshi after all, but I hope you get what I mean

Oh my, for me I haven’t see much yaois with this art, well if all the characters look like the uke, then yes. But for me, I personally love how the seme was designed. Brown characters is a rare thing for me to see when it’s made by a Japanese woman. Oh and yes day dream night mare was a entertaining story, not something I always see. It had more plot than romance... was it even shounen ai? Sorry I don’t remember xd

Yes, sadly, it was shonen ai, and of the kind where they don't even kiss ┗( T﹏T )┛Why do things we love hurt us so? Btw I recommend "Bokura no tsuzuki" if you haven't read it, it's about childhood friends and really cute. Aaand now I start blabbering about art a lot, so you'e free to tune out.

Seme here was designed prettily, yes, but what separates him isn't style, it's just that his skin is in shade and his hair is drawn in visible lines rather then in strands filled with color, which is the most common way of drawing hair in comics and such. This artist sometimes draws hair in that rare way. But when it comes to shape of body and face, expressiveness, (lack of) fluidity in movement, range of shapes for eyes and lips, and shading and lining for characters and background, it's all standard. Seme has slanted seme eyes, and narrow seme face, wide seme lips, uke has large (which in manga language means) girly eyes, softer face, small lips etc.

By standard I don't mean bad, and I get it that it's easier for mangaka to have set and simplistic style with which is easy to draw a lot but fast and consistently and with which you can also visually communicate something about a character. And yaoi creators put a great deal of effort in presenting important characters as beautiful or cute, so we get pretty eyes, clean features and flowy hair. By above average art I mean fluid movements, greater expressiveness (either trough stylizing or face expressions), immersiveness (if background matches characters in amount of detail and in shading and lining space feels more...spacious?) and i consider it a bonus if the way characters are designed isn't too typical.

Uuugh I could go on about this but I'll stop here. If you compare this with "Endou-kun no kansetsu nikki" (in terms of lining and expressiveness), "Umibe no etranger" (immersiveness and shading) "Tsumasaki kara aisarete" (fluidity of movement and anatomical detail) "The inheritance of aroma" (characteristic style) I think it's clear what I mean.

Dang, you really look out for them details, are you an artist... or manga artist? Most people wouldn’t really noticed and just go with the flow xdd I’m an artist myself but I’m not on a professional level where I know my art style and such. But as you know I’m very simple and thought he was beautifully created. Kinda got annoyed how the hair is always a mess and never in a different style (which is what you kinda point out) but meh it’s not like I could change it, and yes got to hate (not really) those kind of shounen ai where there isn’t even a kissing scene! Like come on, it was basically a shoujo. I had to use my imagination that they were together and there was romance in the air, because I didn’t see that all, it was mostly plot and how tragic the main characters back story was. But overall great story, hope there was more chapters, I wasn’t fullfilled with the endT-T. (I don’t really remember what happen I feel like I’m mixing two stories, is it the one with the fox guy?) Oh and thank you for the recs lmafo! Totally checking the childhood friends one :D
