The author just gave up. 99.9% of the time when the sad excuse of a plot advances, it is because of the MC's fainting everywhere. I have seen AI generated stories where the plot advances more naturally and without such repetitive tropes
Goodness, the manhwa was looking really interesting, I was looking forward to read more from this wonderful author. Unfortunately, we won't be able since people are complaining about racism and slavery when we clearly see that the MC dislike that and the slaves have been freed. Can't believe they are canceling an author who has tackled the issue of racism before just because these people lack the ability to understand what they read. One thing is that a certain character has an ideology and one thing is that the entire work of fiction is promoting. There are characters who promote totalitarianism in Star Wars, but the entire franchise is built as a way to fight that ideology. In the same way, we can also see a considerable critique to slavery just in one episode here. I wanted to see more.
And I am saying this as someone from an ethnic minority that has also been persecuted and enslaved, having both native americans and black ancestors.

I really loved this story. The characters felt way too real and they were also hard to predict. Jenny's arc really got me teary and it Peter's journey to healing was majestic. Phillips redemption and backstory were also very well done.
If anything, the only problem is that I want more, especially I want president Kim and Mr. Cha to become an actual couple (at this point they basically are ) and see them interact with the main couple. But, the series ended so well that I can't complain. Five stars doesn't even begin to describe how wonderful this manhwa is

I don't think the fainting is overused because the plot literally says his body is giving up on him. Fainting is part of the plot, he is literally unwell.
The issue is that the fainting has left the MC with no character agency. You can have anything as a crucial part of the story, but the readers should still feel like the characters' decisions have an impact of the plot. I have read many stories where the MC is extremely ill, but there is more plot going on that him fainting. Remember, a single part or element of the plot shouldn't consume the entire plot.
