For those who think this isn't portraying an abusive relationship (because I know you're out there)
- Rapes
- Blackmails with pictures
- Threatens with violence (i.e. forcefully pulling arm)
- Calls it "counseling"
- Manipulative, using people's insecurities to get what he wants
- Probably put his hands on a minor and his student nonetheless
- Call's that "counseling" as well
and that's just to name a few things
Not here to shame people who like reading twisted stories. I like to read them every now and then. But we need to be aware of when stories are twisted and not romanticize abusive relationships so that they appear good or desirable.
.....I feel like you're a person who uses the word "triggered" a lot. Guess what! This is yaoi. 9 out of 10 stories are what you call twisted, and on behalf of non vanilla people everywhere, you comment is offensive. Some relationships that you would call abusive are actually better than what you would probably call appropriate.
Get off the high horse and onto the consenting non-consent train. At every moment dude could have walked away. He didn't want to which moves the story along. ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
Is my horse too high for you? Then maybe you should get on my level. Jokes aside, I'm pretty sure you're the one whose been "triggered" (Btw your words, not mine). You said I've "offended" you, so basically you're projecting the fact that I've offended you onto me.
The story never "triggered" me. If anything I was mildly disappointed, but I kept reading and will continue to do so because, as I said before, I sometimes like reading twisted shit. I may very well be one of those "non-vanilla" people you claim to defend, but if being a "non-vanilla" person means putting an unhealthy relationship on a pedestal, then I won't be that person.
It's none of my business whether you, I, or anybody else enjoys twisted stories. Feel free to like whatever manga you want. All I asked is that we acknowledge when a relationship is abusive and when rape occurs, which you don't think is the case for this manga, so allow me to enlighten you.
Pray tell, Ouroborosnyc, did he give consent here and could he have "walked away"?
http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/oni_to_tengoku/nbt/hs_v-1-chapter-3/pg-33/ Check your prescription if you answered "yes". This was rape. He is bound to the bed, unable to move, and said "stop". Side note: there are plenty of ways to have a healthy relationship involving BDSM, but this is not an example of one.
Abusive, unhealthy, inappropriate; whatever you wish to call it, that is the relationship we see in front of us. I'm not saying the manga should've been different. I'm not saying people shouldn't read it. I'm not saying people shouldn't like. I just want people to recognize that the manga portrays an unhealthy relationship and that the nurse is a sexual predator. After that people can fawn over him or the story or whatever. It's fiction, so why should I care? Anyways, I've said my piece. Hope you enjoyed the tea. Goodbye!

No need for you to apologize. Thanks to your comment, I can avoid this. And no, not all BL/yaoi has rape and abuse. Some does. And we have a right to call abuse and rape abuse and rape. And we don't have to approve of other's sexual choices just "cause." No, we can decide some shit is fucked up, if we wish, just as people can enjoy doing what we consider "fucked up." Me, I would not want people I love treated as objects/toys and abused and blackmailed and raped. I'd want them cherished, loved, and treated with respect. THAT is not vanilla. That's beauty and honor and dignity, imo. YMMV. :)
In my ideal world, abusers/rapists would be shipped to Mars. Adios.
PREACH!! There was nothing wrong with your og comment and I really wish more readers were willing to admit this rather than coming up with a thousand excuses for why an abusive relationship "isn't really abusive" even though it very much is *cough cough* non-consenting consent?? That phrase doesn't even make any sense. It's either consensual or its rape/assault. Just because yaoi likes romanticizing realationships like these doesn't mean their ok. Also calling abusive relationships "non-vanilla" does a disservice to actual "non-vanilla" relationships.
Your comment isn't offensive at all. You were simply raising awareness about the distinction between healthy and toxic behaviours in real life on a public forum. It was to the point and not at all hateful or demeaning. Smh people should read and think before posting unpleasant replies. I'm not supportive of a relationship like this yet I've chosen to stick around because I find the protagonist endearing and almost relatable. Also, the art is neat. ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
Thanks for your comment, and your replies to the person who said that your comment was offensive. It's good to see people who don't glorify rape and abuse in gay relationship. And comments like yours help people like me who are uncomfortable with such topics, as there are close to none trigger warnings when we read mangas here.
So I low-key ship kyouko and kanako, the floater and goth girls. I mean look at how cute!
