This story would’ve been more interesting to me, if it depicted Sarah the maid and Kael’s story. I mean two villains working together sounds more nuanced and intriguing than this.
It’s nothing against Enrica but she is just another reason why the beautiful cutie airhead archetype can run its course in stories that are hinged on a huge miscommunication. It becomes incredibly unrealistic and laughable when the FL shows confidence, skill, intelligence and cunningness for other scenarios that require logic but can’t seem to connect the dots on the man she is marrying because the plot refuses for her to find out until the wedding.
That’s just ridiculous, I’m sorry, a lot of these shoujo ahistorical manhwas really do think their readers just shut their brain off while interacting with their stories so they will half ass the writing if they know all the facets of the story suffice for people. Sad. Anyway, I love Sarah she seemed really interesting and I think her being a dark mage would’ve tied nicely into Kael’s background of being used by one. A sort of enemies to lovers vibe. In fact, when the story first started I loved the relationship between her and Enrica. She could’ve been a lesbian with a one sided or mutual crush on her. Alas, we’re not reading her story though so we’ll never know.
But yeah that’s all I had to say. Will probably keep skimming but my critiques will definitely be a personal crutch to ranking this story any higher.
I agree, i think its very shallow, the story the characters. And also i hate it when the FL is supposed to REALLY fear a certain man(undesirable, because memories of that person kiling her would terrify her) but at the end in a lot of stories i dont see the REAL fear that they should feel and even in some its like is gone completely. She should be terrified, confused, panicked, depressed some even think of offing themselfs. A lot of stories lack INTENSE emotions or emotions at all. Its disappointing.
I see what you mean. In the story, she shows a kind of dismissive and reluctant acceptance to the fact she’s going to be killed by the ML, and it makes you think she doesn’t care but any time they interact or she hears word that he’s around— she’s terrified. They should either make it really nuanced or lean into the fear, and don’t let it up when she finds out the truth imo.
And while the story is amusing to me there really is something so laughably backward and almost … immature? Of how a webtoon can come out in the 2020s decade and have a premise like this and still somehow pull off queerbaiting. Where an author in this day and age can have a couple that is emotionally/affectionately queer yet physically/sexually heterosexual.
Not even having ONE instance where the two explore each other in a way that breaks binaries despite making so much effort to have its FL be conflicted about her newfound sexual identity, well— again, maybe Romantic because there is nothing sexual enough that goes on between Girl Minicat and her besides deep kissing and petting.
That’s such a level of dedication to make the story and the hot parts so straight as possible that I can’t even begin to address it without laughing. I don’t know why I expected anything else maybe I was just too #Wokepilled and I should’ve understood that this was not the place to make things #GayerThanEver but then my god don’t walk and talk like a duck yet swear you’re a goose.
This was a very weak execution, in my opinion, when he should’ve been built up to us as readers who have been having questions about the powers that be that permeate this story. So many webtoons do this too and it looks so rushed to me but that’s just my opinion
I agree! It's like the artist forgot they had to have incorporated this character and one day just woke up and went "shit! the priest martyr guy!" They have had other late added flashbacks but this one was a whole new character, it stands out like a sore thumb.
I don't understand why they did it like this...
That’s how it was introduced in the novel but it didn’t stick out like a sore thumb. There was always religion complete with biblical scriptures throughout the Korean version of the novel. Ines was always asking questions about her past suffering and repeat lives. The novel is also written progressively. There will be other new characters forthcoming that will stick around to the end. There is a reason why they appear when they do. The story is like unraveling a mystery. There are still things that Ines doesn’t even know that will be revealed later.
alicia is an awful woman but oscar is an evil man and i find the dynamic between them playing into niceties and façades with while knowing the true depravity or ambition they both share interesting. i know people would hate to see more of them but not me! would love to see this bowl of contempt either flourish or spoil. i also do love evil women so i’ve grown to like alicia’s nefarious but subtle nature, even the way she’s drawn to be less appealing endears her to me. it would be interesting to see if she grows to be a major obstacle for ines or not but it’d be nice for me to get her introspection or inner conflicts.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course, but I’ve read far more worse stories ‘contractual marriage’ stories than this, with not nearly the same quality of art. So a lot of these complaints just sound like complete nitpicking to me, this is a fun premise and the FL is lovely. The ML kind of had a boring design to me but I’ve really warmed up to his character and personality.
I think it would’ve been a really interesting tango between the two of trying to kill the other and outsmarting the other. However, if the ML was the killer the FL wouldn’t have been making such brutish and impulsive decisions at times. She’s interesting but she’s not as pragmatic as the webtoon would like to have you believe, it’s her stoic Rei-expy demeanor that leads you to the impression of being more observant than she is, tbh. The ML is really fun too, I like the pairing and dynamic between them so far.
I also think the killer is either Ditor(?) or is in close connections with him.
Nope sweety, the killer every time is....
Her killer is so "evil" what got sealad by the maternal family. For the seal to be lifted all of the person who carrying the maternal family blood need die. Everybody uncles, moter, cusins got killed by this "evil". Currently this evil beeing can only posses people.
The way Micheol mocked and goaded her when he asked Na Haesoo if she really thought she could leave him. I told y’all he treats her like she’s his property to abuse and misuse that’s why he seriously thinks she can’t leave him. That debt they have binds them together and he knows it. Too bad for him that she’s “friends” with a walking piggy bank, lol!

I think it’s because the tragedy of it all feels less impactful since none of them have true agency in their feelings at this moment, and specifically I think the angle of them being toyed should’ve been juxtaposed often with Aphrodite and Eros as often as possible as the makers of these two’s doom. I’m sure that will come in later but the inner details do nothing for me. It’s such an easy route of Yandere with everything and then there not being any real character progression makes it a snore to chore through. Also Apollo is just so unappealing now, there was something interesting in the intentional, calculated ambivalence he held for Daphne that’s all been dulled in favor for something contrived. Oh well.
