The author should know about how bad slavery is, south Korea had the longest slave trade involving the Nobi people. So it's insensitive when they downplay one side of slavery over another. When racism is depicted in movies, it either shows the history of how terrible black people were treated, or if a character is racist, it shows how they are a bad person. Of course there is racist comedy, but it's not hateful, if it was hateful they might have to pull the movie. Mentioning the first 2 movies, noticed how both had a negative connotation towards them? Take a look at Song of the Wasteland. When you read the phrase "I'm your humble slave, master," do you find any negative connotation? It seems pretty positive. So that phrase is putting slavery in a positive light. This is unrealistic to the Civil War Era because 1. Slaves were not allowed to talk back to their masters, and 2. Slaves did not enjoy slavery (obviously) so I really doubt they would have been so happy to announce they are a slave to their master, unless they were forced to. Black American slavery was much more intense than what the author portrayed and I think they should treat slavery as a negative thing rather than positively making the character say he is his humble slave, ykwim? Though your argument was very understandable ^_^

Oh I don't think I specified this, so I'm terribly sorry. When I say racial humor, I mean movies that use jokes to bring down racism (though sometimes it can be somewhat extreme). But there are other movies that do use racism as a form of entertainment, but those are usually crude movies that aren't as laughable. Now I do hope that directors know about actual historical events, and they also make sure to press the idea that they don't mean any of what they said. In JAXXs case, they aren't as close to American knowledge as others who are required to learn it, and they didn't specify whether that was a joke or not. And I mean, I doubt that was really a joke because what we can infer is that, that would be an important character trait, since he views himself so devoted to his "master" (partner) that he is a "slave." So he refers to himself as a slave (I mean technically he was a slave, but if we use more psychological context then it can be an important character trait). I mean, the author also could have made him say something else to make him seem devoted too. Like "I made sure to protect the cattle", or just a simple "I've came back" would have still shown his loyalty. Well that is my take and it is perfectly fine to disagree, I'd like to know your opinion.
