Idk if someone has mentioned this yet, but figs are not fruit but inverse flowers and, not all, but some types of figs are often pollinated bc a wasp will go inside the fig and die.
Also. Figs have a lot of religious symbolism, often associated w prosperity/peace.
I believe the author is Korean, but I also found the Vietnamese myth of Cuoi and the banyan (fig) tree particularly interesting. TLDR: The tree has the power to bring people back from the dead; the tree flourishes when watered with clean water, but when someone else decides to give it dirty water, it flies away. Cuoi grabs on while it does so and is taken to the moon, where he must watch earth from above.

As for Sisyphus, we all know him (I hope), but one site I read from had a few interesting tidbits like: ( https://greekgodsandgoddesses.net/myths/sisyphus/ )
-"Sisyphus would repeatedly kill travelers staying with him and then show the bodies to his subjects to show he was a ruthless leader." Not exactly the same but sorta reminds me of someone...
-"Sisyphus expressed an interest in the handcuffs and asked Thanatos to show him how the chains worked – on himself, effectively making Thanatos Sisyphus’s prisoner" aka, he made death his prisoner. Hmmmm, reminds me a lil of a certain pair...
As I said, these could just be coincidences. I'm not an expert in any of the above subjects, nor do I claim to be one, I just found it fun to look them up and thought I'd share.
Thanks to you I discovered this beautiful Vietnamese tale
I thought the title just meant that we're in eternal hell always doing the same thing just like Sisyphus... also are the hours really THAT important for the to be in the title ? Until now Guwon is the biggest mystery the others are just like he said ... dogs. Anyways loved your analysis
