I think people need to realize that empathizing with the character, and not justifying that said characters actions can co-exist. It isn’t always just black and white, where you have to pick between one of the two. You can empathize with the pain and trauma that they’ve faced, while still holding them accountable for their actions. Just because you understand why and how their behavior got to this point, that doesn’t mean you have to excuse the harm that they’ve caused to others.
