I think people need to realize that empathizing with the character, and not justifying that said characters actions can co-exist. It isnāt always just black and white, where you have to pick between one of the two. You can empathize with the pain and trauma that theyāve faced, while still holding them accountable for their actions. Just because you understand why and how their behavior got to this point, that doesnāt mean you have to excuse the harm that theyāve caused to others.
