It’s the translation. It’s like how Koreans say oppa. In Korean it’s not cringy but the translation makes it sound cringy

Thank you for clarifying this. It just felt really out of place to me, that she would start calling him daddy. That's why it gave me the ick. Seeing now, that it's just something that's hard to translate makes so much more sense!

You’re good because it also felt a little weird to me too that’s why most translation groups also add context when translating because direct translations like this doesnt feel as smooth
