But I really can't find myself hating Amon.
Don't get me wrong, I hate how Na-in is treated and his current situation. Maybe it's because I see more of Amon as something not human, so him acting like a territorial beast rather than a mortal with no common sense and human decency makes me like his character (in an "he's interesting" sense). Amon better take notes from Gwen on how to treat Na-in better
The only reason why I can still keep up with what's happening and the plot is because I read the novel.
Otherwise, if you read this manhwa blind, your brain would have to do somersaults just to understand wth is going on because of the awful translation.

Here's the link! So sorry for making you start off at 31.46 Im currently still reading it and it's a hassle to get back to 31.46!
To start I guess the plot is basically Joffrey trying to break free from the original plot of him dying because of Edward.
His mother, the Queen is a Princess from another country and hates how she's treated by the King so she hates his son with mistress (which is Edward) and does everything to try to get rid of him or remove his right from the throne. Edward who doesn't wanna die and protect his mom decides to bow down to this and give up his right to the throne to Joffrey.
But Joffrey knew that he will die if he ascends to the throne because of the original plot so he wanted Edward to be the next King.
During his childhood, Joffrey even befriends Edward but Edward falls for him when he was given his mother's memento.
Over the years, Joffrey tried to show he's incompetent and stupid because he doesn't wanna get killed by Edward and wants to live in peace. In the recent chapters he even pretends to be entangled with multiple men (Edwards HATES this so much, so he tries his best to deter those away by sticking to him gaslighting himself it's for observing his intentions lol).
The Queen found out that Edward and the mistress made contact and that the King was still seeing her behind her back so she assassinates her. Edward thought that this was all Joffrey's plan because he's the Queen's beloved puppet son so this became the catalyst of what's happening now on the push and pull attitude of Edward because he loved Joffrey but at the same time loathes him because of the misunderstanding. Gray is Edward's spy kind of placed to observe Joffrey, and even he is confused of Joffrey's intentions-- because despite Joffrey trying to look bad or to sabotage himself, everything turns into something positive that paint him to good light (his protagonist armor is backfiring lol). This is the reason why Edward and Gray doesn't trust him saying he doesn't want the throne.
SPOILERS - Some might be sloppy because it's been a while but here's what I recall:
Joffrey is apparently not the King's son. The Queen had a lover in their country before she was married off, so this gives the King initiative to kill her, and he knew that the Queen killed his mistress.
The Queen's brother was enraged of this and wanted to take Joffrey to their country because both country's relationship turned very sour, with also Joffrey's lineage in question, this spaked a Civil War.
Edward faction (not Edward himself btw) and the King wanted Joffrey dead, so Joffrey fleed the country with Gray's help (he started to fall for Joffrey along the way) and his Knight constantly protecting him, he followed him to the other Kingdom as well. Eventually he knows of the truth that everything was orchestrated by nobles who wanted to spark a Civil War and the King was in on it ish because King hated the Queen and Joffrey.
Edward didn't want Joffrey to die but hates the fact that he can't be with him, so he decided to be the King. Edward kills the King (his father) and wins the Civil War, he then chases after Joffrey in another Kingdom and proposes to him to unite their countries. Chasing Arc ensues, but pretty much that's the end of it after Edward won Joffrey back. They marry and live happily after.
THE OG PLOT AND THE OTHER ROMANCE OPTIONS:
Another spoiler kind of: The reason why Edward kills Joffrey in the original plot when Joffrey ends up with the Female MC is not because of Edward's jealousy towards the MC but towards Joffrey. HE'S ALWAYS BEEN OBSESSED WITH JOFFREY so he's like "you're not allowed to be with anyone other than me" kind of psycho shit going on in his delulu head This timeline mellowed his batshit craziness because of Joffrey at least, so he wasn't as BAD as the original plot Edward, but he's still very possesive and always wary of Gray, the Knight, and the merchant friend.
The Knight also has feelings for Joffrey obviously, but he never acts on it and just continues to protect and treasure him at arms length even during Joffrey's vulnerable time during the escape and even after Joffrey and Edward was married (kinda sad ngl, I wanted him to have a happy ending, but he did say he was happy and content with how everything is Precious man...), I forgot if Gray ever confessed to Joffrey but if I recall he never did but knows he loves him when he chose to save Joffrey and betraying Edward. Merchant friend likes him as well but it was never really developed and it was kinda like a crush since they're more on close friends.
Hmm, I don't really remember the FL-Jeoffrey death being described in detail that Edward held her in the novel, so maybe it's something more on Joefrrey's persoective our just author's decision for the misunderstanding to work "visually", not entirely sure about that.
If you meant as in the OG story Edward backstory then yes, he is always wary of Joffrey, even in the current story. Joffrey was the Queen's puppet, so it natural he was wary of him but he had always admired him regardless cuz he's smart, pretty, kind and alladat, but more of a love-hate kinda thing that turned to obsession.
I would even say he's more wary of current Joffrey than the OG one because our current Joffrey openly approaches him and denies the throne despite (unintentionally lol) gaining the noble's and people's favor.

All that speech, all that confession, where this is headed... It's sounding like I turned my phone notifs on and won't stop ringing with all the red flags going ping
