No the official English is translated from the original Japanese, guru is a term known in a lot of places around the world though it can have more then one meaning depending on where you're from.
Guru term goes back to Indian ancient times and from vedic record. Especially it's in Sanskrit language. Idk why they translate it like that though it's not a western term.
