To be honest I wouldn't be so sure about Shanks being "nice" - not that he is evil or something, but in OP everyone has both bad and good side. I don't believe, he became a yonko just because he's strong :D Oda pointed a few times in the manga, that all yonko are very selfish and scary and that includes Shanks :D

He loves Luffy for sure, and he won't hurt him. Still this kind of thing won't change him as a person, and we still don't really know, what exactly kind of person is he :) We just have to wait and see :D

I think Shanks is a "nice guy" (as a person) but he can be a really "bad guy" (as a pirate/yonkou). Just remember in the first chapter Lucky Roo have shot one bandit, also I don't think everybody would be affraid of his crew if they were nice or just because they are strong.

Now that you put it that way, I agree with you. But I do this being strong (not necessarily fearsome) qualifies as a reason ლ(´ڡ`ლ) but they ARE indeed pirates so... Yeah, even our stupid Luffy can be frightening when needed

There is a possibility that Charlotte Linlin and the Big Mom Pirates could be potential allies to the Straw Hat's, with Perkoms owing a debt of gratitude to them for helping out the Mink Tribe on Zou, and that theory about Lola being the daughter of Big Mom so in the future they could have two not one Yonko's as powerful allies.

Um maybe he’ not nice, or he’s just nice to civilians, his hometown and luffy.. Cause i dont think you can survive in new world with being nice to other pirates when their method is rotten and stinking.

I want to believe MY husband, Shanks, is a bit like Luffy. He is goofy and generally a good guy but when provoked he becomes a devil. Also he is a great fighter and I cant wait to see it in the future! Man I just remember how he singlehandedly stopped the great Marine War. *blushes* He didnt even raise a finger he just said, "This needs to end" and everyone fucking obeyed! Fuuuuuu my hubby!!

He's probably the mellow kind of guy like if your cool with him he's cool with you type unless you insult him, his crew, his captain, and his people. The Straw Hat's seems to be doing okay asided from missing a nakama in Sanji ( there'll get him back for sure), and Shanks he's a nice guy too and a Yonko not all have to be rotten or stinking cause even those type of pirates don't make in the new world either.

Yeah. The “not all” is whitebeard and shanks, but whitebeard died. Only shanks left. And the yonko’s not really that evil like whitebeard more like selfish like big mom and kaido

Oh yeah. That. I remember that too. now that i remembered he really looked an idiot like luffy with that kind of resolution xD but why did kaido accompliced in killing the head that is only known on how to read poneglyphs, and how did momonosuke landed on punk hazard?

I'm so excited to know about that too. I bet the head was as tight lipped as the mink tribe so Kaido had no choice but to kill him..

If and if, another oda’s twist, kaido and the head are best of friends and the head knows a way how to kill kaido but he didnt do it so he killed the head out of anger in thinking that the head might be making light of his dying issue xD

I agree with the comments saying Shanks probably has a "bad guy"/"scary and absolutely badass" side that we haven't seen yet, but is still nice/happy around innocent people and those he loves(like Luffy, his crew mates, his town).

BUT I want to take this opportunity to say Shanks may not be as similar to Luffy as he appears to be. I mean, obviously, they have a lot in common (like their love for freedom and adventure), and Oda hints they have the same personality... but this may be misleading because almost all of what we have seen of Shanks until now is him drinking or patying with his friends or him saving Luffy, we haven't seen him in many other siuations.

And to me, the fact that Shanks is not trying to find the One Piece implies he is different from Luffy(at least he has different ambitions). Honestly, I believe Shanks is more rational and calculating and less belligerent than Luffy...(a little bit faking ignorance or pretending to be harmless, when he's not.) I don't know why I believe this :/

In addition, Luffy also behaves a lot like his grandpa and seems to be following Roger's steps.... and I have a feeling Luffy's spirit would turn to be the most similar to Roger's spirit/philosophy-of -life.
But who knows? Anything could happen

This was my first impression of Shanks; that he doesn't like fighting (unless he has a reason or the need to do so), but he won't tolerate his friends/family to be harmed nor insulted, in any possible way. As the kind of person who doesn't get angry easily, but he is verys harsh when being provoked... and doesn't forget.

I know right! If he was dating Ueda, it would be unfair to him and I think I would hate the uke a little. But I think there is some twist here - I hope so.
