m-a-s-t-e-r-p-i-e-c-e!!!!!!!!! this has been my emotional support manga for years now (anime too). anyways, will be coming back soon, lol! if you are reading this comment before starting this one, i HIGHLY recommend it. i would recommend it to anyone and everyone if i could
Came to read the end after watching the anime and all I can say is that this is such a profound and beautiful view on the balance of nature, and humanity’s relationship with the natural world. mushishi is one of the most well written stories I’ve ever come across, allowing us to naturally expand our knowledge of the world and ginko as we read/ watch every short story, each presented similarly to folk tales. It’s really beautiful and deeply emotional despite the rather straightforward nature of the MC. Plus the anime represented the serene yet frightening and mystical world portrayed in the manga absolutely perfectly. This is just hands down an incredible piece of art, the likes of which are rare.
I mean.. this story was REALLY underrated. So calming story, even anime was really good, they know how to make it beautiful yet sometime creepy. This is actually 100/10
It is my favorite manga so I am biased, but this story has a way of telling human stories even with a supernatural twist. A child with horns, a bog-woman, snow that keeps following a grief-stricken man, a tree that lives for hundreds of years. All of these stories are touching, heartbreaking and so human, that they leave you feeling melancholic and nostalgic for something you have never experienced. Highly suggest reading this manga.
Ahh he looks so young in the first chapters compared to the first episodes in the animeee Im gonna continue this after finishingg the anime Or even buy the volumes who knows
omg if you buy it can you tell me where? i've been looking to see where i can get a physical copy but all of the ones i see are used and for super inflated prices.

Awhhhh
They aren't being published physically in English anymore as Del Ray had the license and they went bankrupt. Kodansha has the license now but they only publish in ebook form. If you really want the physical copies they have this form and you can request Mushishi to be published physically! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeHzCoGZ5cgofE-0d9fQ6kfC9psn-1EU4bKLngm_fSpcvl40Q/viewform?fbzx=8732112274701249910
