I think particular styles will give you that relationship more, like bara (these tend to be written by men, for men). Certainly Western comics. For sure you make a point, but it’s pretty much a selected formula for successful manga for reasons most have already addressed here before me. My thoughts exactly. Am not a man but this has always bothered me. Like there's nothing wrong with liking a position more than the other (or liking neither), but not even trying???
