I don't know if I can give much help since when I was diagnosed with depression it had something to do with my toxic school environment, so for me a change of scenery or a change of environment worked, we moved houses and I slowly developed a new friends and met new people creating a better and stronger support system. I struggled with depression for quite some time. I also found it easier to talk to strangers. I think it's a good idea to find professional help, if only to have that stranger to talk to. Every piece of fiction could have the potential to affect people in real life, both positively and negatively. It can be problematic but even so, I still believe that truly negative and malicious effects caused by people taking fiction too seriously are by far, on the minority side.
