Should Straight people not read yaoi ?
Their are people on twitter who say yaoi is fetishizing of gay couples .. I been reading yaoi for long time and I have never disrespect or fetishize any gay people in real life , I may have ship some kpop idols or anime characters but everyone else did it .. to me I like yaoi and I don't even know why it just make me happy when I read it .. so what wrong with that ?
Why can't straight girls like and read yaoi ? How should I respond to those accusations made by those people ?
I am straight and I do read yaoi. I don’t find it odd. In the beginning, weren’t the target readers of yaoi straight females? I could be mistaken but that’s what I’ve heard. Also as long as you don’t think that real life works exactly the same way yaoi does and as long as you don’t fetishize gay couples I don’t think it’s bad. 2 reply

It's just currently full of really gross or twisted stories of MLM couples, and a lot of fans don't see any problem with it. Even more moderate yaoi (those without the incredibly reoccurring sexual assault themes) use harmful stereotypes towards MLM. as someone part of the lgbtq+ community I think a lot of people now are misusing the word fetishizing and just randomly placing it where it doesn't make sense.
