It’s not racist as long as you’re respectful about it and if you part them correctly then box braids won’t damage anyone’s hair so wear box braids if you want.

Well personally I'm not African American, but the braids have a cultural importance behind them which is why you shouldn't be wearing them, if not in that culture.
