It's not completely yaoi but it's a bl book. I got all 3 volumes of the captive Prince series which I hid in my drawer at the wayy back. Just hope my mother does not decide it's time to clean and checks my drawer 3 reply

No group is a monolith, so I can only speak from people I’ve talked to, but in my experience it becomes problematic when it leads to people fetishizing or judging real people by BL tropes. I’ve always been a super avid reader, but when I read BL for the first time I was like “oh, this is my jam!”- I prefer the storylines, the character and ...... reply
Yeah, I mean it’s just the fiction I read so I didn’t hide it or advertise it. Now whenever my parents or BF ask me what I’m reading and I just give them a look, they’re like “oh, it’s one of your books where the dudes fall in love with eachother, right?”
One time my grandmother picked up the TGCF book I was reading and after readin...... reply
I don't think reading BL is necessarily a bad thing, but what IS a bad thing is feteshizing gay relationships. Does that make sense?? And idk what it is about people calling themselves fujoshis, but it seems a bit off to me... Also I feel like society already fetishizises straight couples- like whenever I have a friend that happens to be a boy peo...... 1 reply
Hmm good question. I personally think it's not necessarily the act of reading bl but the manner and mindset with which you'd read bl.
When a fujo reads BL, they are reading about a demographic that is not them, which is great if done well, harmful if not. And more often it's the latter. Sadly, BL is mostly catering to the female audience, so there...... reply
some of y’all in the replies weird as hell
we hate fujos because they fetishize mlm relationships and get weird “smol uwu gay babies” “uke” “seme” shipping irl people, asking gay men invasive questions, whatever whatever. tf does that have to do with straight romance.
y’all oppress us and get mad when we fight back. some of y’all ...... 1 reply
I think what people call fetishizing is someone who reads yaoi just for the lemon, or who romanticizes rape and abusive things simply because they're two men but if it were an abusive straight relationship they would complain, people who says "I wanted to be a man just to be gay and date another man", the people who idealize gay couples, y'now? No ones offended when fujoshis read bl, we're offended if they or anyone in that fact fetishize which is what majority do. Another thing I really dislike about people like you trying to get your point across is bringing in straight romance. Straight people and people in the lgbtqia+ communtiy have never been on the same level, ever. Trying to compa...... reply
You guys had a lot of good advice and answers. So I give you all a very big thank you. If you didn't see my comment on that, I decided that I wouldn't be dropping BL, at least not today.
I will admit I was, I think the word would be, comforted? Because you all did have the Viewpoint I did before having to feel like I needed to make that post. It's...... 3 reply
