Cups > Pads > tampons to me, although you should use whatever you prefer. :) No need to be scared of tampons, even if you're a virgin, those with applicators are much easier to put. I personally can’t use them because they make my cramps 1000x worse, but when I could use them they were much cleaner and they’re honestly not too hard to use? Tampons shouldn’t hurt though!! I’d make sure to check you’re using them right 1 reply
I will only ever use pads even if it's uncomfortable. Tampons cost more and I'm not gonna stick my finger up just to get it out if the string breaks, plus I have a heavy irregular flow. I'm also not gonna wear those underwear that absorbs blood or use those cups. If I'm done with pads I'll just go with pills. reply
Another option is a silicone cup. I can’t use a tampon, because I feel like I’m sitting on a stick, and a pad feels so unclean. While a cup is still something you put inside you, I find it much more comfortable. For me, tampons only become uncomfortable if my flow isn't heavy enough. Try only using them during your heaviest flow days and start off with smaller ones and a panty liner. reply
Pads are just really annoying, tampons are really scary (search about toxic shock syndrom) and both of them are really wasteful (your great great grandmother pads or tampons are still on this earh in landfill). I used pads when I first got my period and hated them as they felt like diapers. As I got older into my later teens I used Tampons as they were more comfortable for me and easier to deal with. Tampons are literally amazing. I find pads disgusting to use since they get so bloody. If you're unsure, I'd suggest sticking with pads for now but trying tampons with applicators. It may hurt or be uncomfortable the first few times, but in the end, I find it a much better alternative to pads. Just make sure you're doing what feels right to you! reply
